Dave, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having the roof rack?
What I mean to ask is, if you have a 33" or 35" tire mounted on the roof rack, can you still fit gear in the rack at the same time? I am trying to figure out what I want to do with my TJ for a rack system...any chance of posting a couple more pics showing a tire mounted so we can see how much space is left for gear...such as jerry cans, tents, sleeping bags, foldable camping chairs, ice chest, etc.
Also, have you ever fabricated boxes for camping gear (that can be pad locked to secure your gear and hitch mounted to complement a swing out tire carrier)? - I'd like to be able to load up my Jeep for camping trips and then remove the box from the hitch and store on the ground at camp site in case I need to open the swing out tire carrier while out on the trails. Nice! :D
Sorry for all of the questions...:o I'm new to Jeepin' and I am starting at square one (Jeep is stock). Thanks, Chris

And it adds some unwanted weight to the top of the rig. Might be a real PITA to get a 35 way up there, too.

I experimented with my 33" spare up on my Warrior Products roof rack, and the rack wasn't good for much else. Plus, it made the Jeep a lot more tippy in off-camber situations...

I mounted my 35 on the roof rack and it does add weight that you need to consider on off camber hills. It also created wind drag that i had to make a spoiler to get air over and reduce noise. But i can see out of my rear window. :D Now im going to make a holder for gas & water cans to mount in place of rear tire holder.:D

Duh Mark!! Your Jeep is the size of a H3 so the 35" tire isnt much too it, plus its big wide and bulky its gonna get a wind drag going!! :D

This was for an XJ that runs 31 inch tires. If your going to carry that much stuff I'd suggest a small camp trailer.. All that weight on top and hanging off the frame of the TJ isn't really recommended..
