Its almost time for my bi-annual trip to Sturgis for Bike Week. I was just wondering if any other members of the forum were heading up there and if you were riding or hauling up your scooter.
This year I'm leaving the antiques at home and skipping the bike show circuit. I will leave the trailer and Jeep at home with them and I'll be riding up. :)
I'll be heading up with a group of 5 riders-1st day to Telluride-2nd day following the river from Salida through the heartland of CO and ending up somewhere between Golden and Ft. Collins. (We never make second day reservations, as we never know what will happen with the CO weather.) I'll pull into Sturgis solo, as the folks I'm riding up there with are staying in Deadwood. I camp at a local campground that I've been going to for over 15 years. Then, its hooking up with friends and spending some time in the wind. I'll be riding back solo. If anyone needs to hook up for the journey, either there or back, let me know. I may be able to make some arrangements to have you join up with us.
Be well, I need the break from our little Summer,
Huck

Not sure on your route North from Ft. Collins, and if you want to stray from I-25. Like to Ride out of Cheyenne towards Hawk Springs and then into Torrington. Then to Lusk. Great little mexican place in Lusk (Lira's... it will cost you 10 bucks to feed 8 :) ) Then from Lusk head North to New Castle. 80 miles of great road (no services so have fuel) and a great place to open up the scoot and let it run. From New Castle I like to run North through a little bit of the twistys to Four Corners and then down Spearfish canyon into Spearfish. Then your on I-90 for the rest of the way East into town.

Ride safe,
Dave

I've headed in that way before. Heading up we are going to avoid the 25 for the most part. We'll be on it for a bit from the Boulder/Denver area until we turn East towards Ft. Collins. We'll then head due North and I'll end up leading them into Deadwood and their Motel. Thanks for the suggestion/s. Be careful around Lusk. I ended up with a speeding ticket at 2AM, on one trip. The funny thing about it was, that I was heading uphill in my Jeep towing one of my antiques.... There was no way I was even doing the speed limit on that section of two-lane. He was just looking for folks that were Sturgis bound, to hassle. It cost me a few bucks to remedy that issue.
Thanks again,
Huck
