Unfortunently it's gotta stay in offtopic:p

The Nissan or...nissan.., will become two projects, the body will be used for an expedition vehicle(look at signature), and the rest built for my favorite AZ rockcrawling trails. I'm starting with the rest, since it's the cheaper route for now:D
Today I took the bed off, all by myself*proud*. Next week the cab is coming off, then cleaning up the frame by removing uneccessary mounts...I have no clue what axles I'm gonna use but I do know I need at least 5.38ish with this crappy t-case.

The goal is to build this the least expensive way (isn't that always the goal:D?)

Tire size...thinking 33" to 38"

Anyway, MAJOR QUESTION: Buggy dudes and dudets, this vehicle is "street legal", meaning reg,&Ins. Do I use the stock electricals for lights or ditch the old system and rewire it? Which is easier?

63 inch Chevy leafs front and rear, FS D44 front and FS D60 rear!! cheap and simple..

I agree with Dave on the axles, some would say a 9 inch in the rear for better clearance.

5.38 gears won't be as strong as 4.10 or 4.56. I would consider a different transfer case. Might be cheaper in the long run than breaking your gears.

On the other hand if you go with an auto transmission will greatly reduce the shock to your gears making them less likey to break and provides the equal of about a 2:1 reduction in effective low gear ratio.

Just my opinion.

Would these be suitable for my project? Front or rear? Do I need to remove the small leafs? How long are they you think?

That's it thanks:D

Radiator out. almost everything's out of the cab. Biggest deal in all this is to remember the wiring diagram:rolleyes: Instead of drawing one down I took a bunch of pictures....I'm more of a visual guy:D

Cut the rear frame today, I will probably box over the end to add length, the new springs are looong! I also removed part of the exaust system. Reciprocating saws are really friendly but gosh the blades are too easy to bend. This project is moving slowly right now...the hot weather increases my lazyness.
