I got my upgraded line yesterday. :) 3/8" x 100' XD Superline:

The deal went just like Emil (owner of Masterpull) said it would. They gave me full credit for the failed line and charged me the difference.
The first thing I noticed was the stiffness of the new line. Definitely tougher, less flexible than the old line:

It also came with a sheath you can attach (with velcro) to protect it from abrasion. You can bet I will be using it!
Another feature that I liked was the larger hook:

I guess that it is stronger, the line is rated at 26,500 lbs. versus the previous line was rated at 23,500 lbs. For more information, here is a link:

For the whole story on my Moab adventure, and the discussion on synthetic winch lines, read this thread:

I guess this is the final chapter in our discussion. I just want to thank everyone who posted on this subject, it has been a great learning experience for me. I also want to thank Emil at Masterpull for taking care of a new customer that abused and destroyed a brand new line..... :o

Great! Emil is a stand up guy. You will love the rope, same one I have. That said I would give consideration to this either now or in the future: http://web.mac.com/donpryor/iWeb/SavageSun%204x4/Masterpull%20Superline,.html

The Winch Safety Thimble from Tough Stuff Products is one great addition. Now that I have it, just wish I had it a long time ago.

You can buy it and ship it and the rope to Emil and he will put it on at no cost.

Depending upon how much wheeling you do, I would send my rope back about every other year for inspection and a clean up. They will cut off about 1-3 feet off the working end and reset the thimble for you at no cost. The working end takes a beating out here in the rocks.

Enjoy;)

No Bill that was me that put it on wrong.:o

By the way my winchline came back from Masterpull last week and they did the same thing with mine they did on Wayne's. They spliced the break but neglected the rest of the line that had several areas of concern that would definitely end in disaster if used.

I went back to steel cable. Screw it!

No problem Bill, I just got done spooling it on my winch. I stretched it out between Grosser and Hyjak, put a couple of clicks on the e-brake, and drug the Jeep toward the truck. Both of my controllers are marked in and out, and it spooled on tight, even the extra abrasion sheath went on:

Don, I don't think my spindle and hook would fit through the aluminum fairlead, the slot is too narrow. Just can't see any reason to modify it at this time.

Mike, sorry to hear about your line, when mine came back, all it took was a call to Emil to make it right. You should talk to him, it can't hurt.

Wayne, the new hook clashes with your Jeep. I think you should give it to me, it would match my rig better. I will even be generous enough to give you my steel cable in trade, but you gotta chip in about $50 to make it happen.

Sorry to hear that. Give them a call.....it worked for Wayco.....they told him it was a mistake that it was repaired and returned to him.
