Question about 3rd tail light wires

So I got a light to mount in the center of my spare for a third tail light on my tj, but I dont remember how the wires go in the door connector. Is the brown and white wire the top wire and the black on bottom, or is it the other way around??

Is the black wire a ground?

Not sure, but it really shouldn't matter..

IIRC the black is ground. Try one way, then try the other...

It does not matter unless you are running led. It will only work one way.

I haven't ever had one on mine. I bought mine bone stock 5yrs ago and it did not have one on it. It was purchased at a dealer used also. Maybe I've been lucky but I do have brake lights.
