ok i need the low down! i'm gonna be running 35'' tires and i have rim picked out! now question is what width????? does it matter, does 8 perform better than 10??? i heard 8 holds lower air pressures on bead better. is that true?? tire is bfg m/t! any help thanks

Lost a bead one time total in about 2 1/2 years running 35x12.50x15 on 10's.

I go down to 8psi.

I run 37-12.50-15s on 8" alums. I assume you are going 15" wheels? I have only lost a bead 1 time, when I was on 32s @ 10 PSI. Haven't lost one yet @ 6 PSI with the 37s. Ran 35 BFG MTs for 2 years at 8-10 PSI and never lost a bead. Same rims through the years.

I like the way my 8 inch is inside the sidewall of my BFG MT. My sidewall takes good hits all the time, but with the 8inch wheel is stays out of the way better. I will always get the narrowist wheel I can.

I run 35's on 10" rims and I like the wider footprint it gives me. I air down to 8-9 psi and while they do burp or spin a little on occasion I have only lost a bead once. They have folded over on themselves and still never lost a bead.

A lot of it depends on the rims you are buying. !0" wide steel rock crawler rims don't have as good of a lip on them as a lot of 10" wide alloy rims.

EACH tire maker has a set of recommendations for this. That said, here is the one for Goodyear MTRs [which I suspect are about the same for BFGs]:
