We meet at powerline at 10:15 and meet at Log Corral at 9 AM. Most of us will probably meet at Log Corral at 9 to check it out, then drive up to Powerline, about 8 miles up SR-87.

For TracLok limited slip (with carrier) only - $125
FWIW, I had changed the diff. fluid at about 10k to Mobil One synthetic

changing the front, but it's well within factory limits for fluid

Hi all
This is for the less experienced drivers on the list, so all you class 4,
locked up, hardcore guys can skip it. :-)
If you have limited slip differentials in your rig and you feel one tire
start to spin, try stepping on the brakes gently and continuing to apply
power. The added restriction of the brakes being applied to the spinning
wheel will make your diff think that it still has traction, and it will
apply power to both wheels.
I had seen this suggested on the web, and tried it yesterday. It works!
Dan was the only one who followed me yesterday, so in case you were
wondering why I climbed the hill out of that little creek with my brake
lights on, now you know!

I have an 82 CJ7 with a 4 banger in it...2 inch life and it needs lots

Any suggestions on a decent used/new parts place that won't take me for
all I'm worth? Examples of what I need are like..a front end (dip that
owned it before welded the sway bar together and it's ruined it), a new
soft top and doors ( someone stole em in rocky point), and the

Was this the Off-Road Unlimited on Raintree and Hayden in Scottsdale? I
haven't been too impressed with them either. They had the Tomken
undercarriage skid-plate hanging on their wall when I went there. I asked
them how much for it and he said $175. I replied "isn't the MSRP $150?",
and he said "OK, then it's $150". They also told me $200 for the Tomken gas
tank skid plate ($150 MSRP). After reading your message, I don't think I'd
do any business with these guys unless you know exactly what you want and
how much you are willing to spend.

I got the hand throttle from RE a few weeks ago. It's great - really helps
keep a constant throttle going over rocks. It also frees up a foot so you can
apply that braking technique to help lock up an LSD. It was easy to install on
the TJ, especially if you don't have a cruise control. There is a second
unused place to route a throttle cable.

My two cents (from Ashland, KY) regarding Off Road Unlimited on Raintree:
Depending on who you talk to, I agree that they can be flaky unless you really
know what you need/want. However, their mechanics are great. I had them
install my lift, air lockers, and misc. and never had a problem from the get
go.

Hi David....welcome to the group!
The other members will be able to help you alot more with regards to CJ
parts, but I would suggest Ecology Auto Recycling on south 27th avenue. I
was looking for full size jeep stuff last time I was there, but I remember
seeing a couple of CJ's and DJ's in there. I don't know if they were 7's or
5's. I like the pull your own stuff yards because I can see how the parts
look and mount when they aren't broken or torn off :-)
It's always better to replace parts in the garage instead of on the trail,
but don't be embarrassed if you break down. We had two fix-it stops on the
last run. Just make sure that your Jeep is safe to drive, and carry spares
for any parts you suspect.
Hope to see you on the trail soon.

Subject: Tires & Anything Microsoft
First I'll say my email program has been quite screwy and needs probably
another 4 or 5 nights up till 3am to get it fixed. I'm so irritated!
Does anyone have any tires for sale? I am looking for 31 inch tires to go
on some 15 inch rims. I don't feel to comfy doing any offroading on these
slicks I have so it may be awhile till I am back on the trail. I would
like to also get a 5th tire for a spare. Do you have to modify the spare
tire holder to fit a 31 inch tire? I have seen some adapters for sale.

Hi! My name's Tony and I am a new member of this mailing
list. I haven't been on any group outings yet, but I hope
to soon! I have a 94 4 cyl (boat anchor) YJ, desert basic,
with a 4 inch suspension lift, front end shackle inversion,
heavy duty lifting shackles, et cetera. I've been up to Crown
King from Black Canyon Freeway and then out the back way
through Minnehaha Flats. Now that is a very interesting
and beautiful trip that dumps you back out on blacktop near
Kirkland Junction. I've never been on a trail rated above 3, so
maybe that's why I haven't broken anything yet. =)
I'm also planning on doing the fire road up the north side
of Mount Lemmon and then down into Tucson to visit friends.
If anyone here has done that, any tips/pointers would be
appreciated.
When my 4 cylinder boat anchor stock engine gives out, I
also want to convert to a V-6 or a V-8. Can anyone recommend
a good shop?
I am a web consultant/perl programmer by trade. Last weekend
I had the good fortune to meet a legendary programmer named

had a cool jpeg camera with him and graciously consented to take
some photos of my jeep:

( the jeep pic is at the bottom of the page =) )
Now for the the shameless plug: If anyone needs web consulting/

My rates are reasonable.
ttyal, and hope to see you on the trail soon!

Subject: Log Corral Trail Report
This was one leg of a dual run, where both trails meet in the vicinity
of Bartlett Lake. Those attending the Log Corral portion include myself
(DougB), Ed (Coyote), GeorgeA, KenU and friend, JimS, and GregC.
We assembled near Sycamore Creek at about 9a, and were off by 9:20 or
so. We crossed over the creek and generally followed Sycamore Canyon for
about ten minutes, then turned west into Log Corral Canyon. There's a
very narrow gate in the trail, but we all managed to squeeze through,
though not w/ much room to spare for George's J-Cherokee. Shortly after
that, we were in the creek and the class 4 section. We all got out to
scope it out, and plan our lines. As mentioned in a previous post, this
is not a section of trail to be tried w/ a stock vehicle. Suspension
mods, good tires, and LSD or lockers are really needed, though Greg
made it w/ his open diff but lifted YJ - obviously, superior driving
skill and excellent spotting helped :)
There was a bit of water in the creek, so that made the rocks a bit
slippery, but taking it very slow, and with plently of spotting help, we
all made it through, with only (relatively minor) scrapes, and a few new
dents on rocker bars and bumpers...just enough to add character.
Heading on through through the narrow canyon, whe went through some
fairly well wooded and shaded areas, which then opened up to wider
Senorian terrain. Here, we headed down into some deep sandy gullies,
which were fun. If you were standing in the open, you'd never see the
Jeeps, the gullies were that deep.
Eventually, we made it up to the saddle, to Log Corral, and a spectaular
view if the lake and surrounding country. It was quite windy up there.
We stopped and had lunch, and chatted briefly w/ some hikers who had
passed us back at the class 4 rocks. They were a bit surprised we had
made it through.
After lunch, we headed down toward the lake...made it to the power line
trail, and, not yet seeing the second group, continued west to the lake
itself. Here there are some steep sandy hills that are fun to play
around in....which we of course did.
After a bit, we headed back to Power Line trail, and started heading
out, figuring we'd run into the second group.
After about 15 or 20 minutes, we linked up, stretched out legs and had
good time talking to everyone bout Jeep stuff.
From here, we headed out to SR 87. Len, I believe, is doing a trail
report for that section (Power Line) so I'll leave the rest to him.
As usual...had a great time.

We meet at powerline at 10:15 and meet at Log Corral at 9 AM. Most of us will
probably meet at Log Corral at 9 to check it out, then drive up to Powerline,
about 8 miles up SR-87.

Hi all
This is for the less experienced drivers on the list, so all you class 4,
locked up, hardcore guys can skip it.

Does anyone have any tires for sale? I am looking for 31 inch tires to go

Hi! My name's Tony and I am a new member of this mailing
