I'm curious as to how folks store all the things that should be carried on the trail, tools, water, ice chest, etc. Is the rear seat up or down, how are things secured in the vehicle, etc. I've got a 2d and having a h*** of time figuring out how to keep it all intact.

Thanks.

I concure with Frenchy. I have a big box that holds my tool kit, bottle jack, 4 way tire iron, tow stap, 3 gal water, 3 qrt oil, 3 qrt gear oil, first aid kit,and all the other misc stuff I may need. The box and my cooler sit side by side and strapped down in the back with the rear seat up and the spare strapped to the roof.

And then I duct tape everything down for good measure.

Since I can't get anyone else to carry my crap for me....I have my tool bag, spare fluids and such in a seperate box, ice chest, high lift, etc in the back with the rear seat up. Everything strapped down. Don't forget that you have storage space under that rear seat cushion. Great for those little things that you don't need to get really quickly.
Of course since we rolled a while back......sort of the same but now I finally have my Warrior cargo rack on so, a lot of stuff can go in there.

Also, the usual guys that I wheel with regularly, we all carry different things so, we all don't carry "everything" ourselves and duplicate or triplicate our efforts on some things.

The area under the seat currently has my cold and wet weather gear. I got caught out overnight once before, and won't be without warm weather stuff.

I have a 4 door but this is my set up. Took the rear seat out and put a shelf in it's place. Shelf will fold up to access tow straps, shackles etc. In the rear cargo area it is caged off and I have a large Tuffy security box for cameras, guns etc. I have a 10 drawer top box for my tools. I also carry spare axle shafts, my Co2 rig etc back there.

I have a large Rubbermaid type box full of crap on half of the rear area. On the other side is my tool box and Ice chest. The Tire and high lift are on the roof. If I'm staying over night the back seat gets folded down and filled and the roof rack as well.

I have a couple XJ's, I take the back seat out and fold down, this area is storage for jumper cabels, tools, extra nuts and bolts. I take the back seat belts out and install a hook sqeezed closed, I use it to bungie coolers. Run the heavy black rubber bungies from hook through handles of cooler or whatever then hook bungie to tiedown loop on floor, I sometimes take my 4 dogs wheelin and am trying to figure a way to bungie them too!!:D

I had a big box. Wasn't a fan of it. I sold it and built a rack that takes 2/3's of my hatch area with the rear seat up and it can be un bolted. I also have a tool box on the other 3rd of the hatch space. The tool box has 5 slide out drawers and is lockable. I like it a lot and may people have looked at it and like the idea. I will try and get some photos up in the next day or two...
