I am not big on going fast, or doing any type of stunts... but I dont want a hog or anything of that sort... I want something to just use a DD to work and back..
looking in the 600CC range, something basic something cheap but is a good quality bike and looks good!
what are my options?

get a Vstar. pretty cheap, reliable, and you can mod them all you want to make them not even look like a vstar anymore. Ben's he had looked more like a 50's bobber with flat black, ape hangers, suspension drop, chrome custom exhaust, plus the hypercharger I got him when we started dating...great bike, dependable, cheap, versatile, cheap, nice looking ride, cheap parts......
We'd still have ours if some idiot woman hadn't ran a red light in a soccer mom van and forced ben to lay his bike down and slide under the van to avoid death. (please wear a helmet when you get one, adam)

I have been looking to pickup an SV650 lately, really nice Vtwin in a street bike.

by the sounds of it you are looking for a low end sport bike??? If that is the case, then you have a lot of choices. If you are looking at new bikes, then Kawasaki will be the cheapest most likely, they have the Ninja 650R, or the Ninja 500R. Or if you are looking for a used one, they did have a Ninja 600R (looks like the 500R). Then you have the Yamaha FZ6 or the YZF 600R.
A friend of mine works at one of the dealerships and told me if you plan on having someone on the back, then the YZF 600R works better, but if no one will be with you, he told me to find the Ninja 636 (aka ZX-6R), but last year was the last year for them.
Honda's and Suzuki's are nice, but pricey. I ride a 93' Ninja 600R, but it is starting to show its age. It is a great DD bike and I ride it about 22miles one way. But a good way to see what is out there is CLICKY (http://www.phoenixpowersports.com/), this is what I have using for comparing bikes for whenever I can afford a new one...

I was thinking abou the Yamaha YZF 600R My brother has the 2005 or 2006 YZf R6 before it became a 600r I like his bike it is comfortable, as for a passenger it is possible but hardly often, like I have said before I am not gonna be doing stunts or speeding... just something to use as my DD
new or used is fine... but if it is used I am gonna go throught it with a fine tooth comb... I am very picking to how mechanically sound engines are.

In the Hospital and healthcare industry we call them Donor Cycles......
I've seen enough and heard enough stories not to want one ......... And I can't trust myself enough to be sane on it

It's 1200cc which has gobs of power and torque, but is smooth and gentle at the same time. A great all around bike. I'm only selling it because I never ride it anymore and I need a Tuff Shed!
