My personal trainer at Lifetime fitness has never been in a Jeep before, and I want to show him a little rock crawling before he moves to Nebraska. :D
Meet at the air down on Watson, (North of I-10) at 9 am. We will probably do Tie Rod wash to warm up, then Firebird.

Tie Rod wash is no biggie, we took Shannonmac through there with a mostly stock Jeep. She learned how to put it in 4 low..... :D
Firebird is rated at 3.0, my first run with this group was there, got drug off several obstacles, fired up the addiction BIG TIME..... I don't agree with Johns statement about running a stock Jeep through there, but I would show up to watch him do it. :D

hahaha, are you calling me out? If so, I'd love to drive a stock jeep through Firebird. Anyone wanna let me borrow one?

Firebird probably would be tough on a stock rig. Maybe I should revise the write up. I will if a few other people agree that Firebird is too much for a stock rig.

On a side note, I would love to go on this run but I already have plans. I've made several White Tank runs but don't know where Tie Rod and some of the other trails are. Maybe another time Wayne? We'll eat some sushi on the trail!:D

Tie Rod wash????????????? Are referring to the lower part of Firebird, if so that is Tax Collector, or the little trail prior to really getting into the white tanks that starts at the bottom of the little wash before you get to the big water tank, if so that is Appetizer. If not one of those where is Tie Rod Wash? It is not one of the trails we listed on the plan presented to the City of Buckeye for approval to be included in the park they are intending to build out there.

Yeah John, I'm calling you out, we have a new Sushi restaurant called TOMO's on Dysart and McDowell. :D I don't doubt that you can run Firebird in a stock Jeep, I just want to watch.
Hey, my neighbor, Vince, has a mostly stock Jeep, how are you at hot wiring? Just kidding Vince, (he's a member here too) his Jeep is much to nice for this adventure. Anytime you want to run something over here, let me know. And I'm sure Hardline will buy us all SUSHI! :)

Howdy Paul, the White Tanks trails are West of Phoenix near Goodyear, where I live. Take I-10 west to Watson Rd.(exit 116 I think) turn right (North) and go to the end of the pavement. We will be there at 9 am. If you have little experience with rock crawling, we might not do Firebird, it's up to you. Tie Rod wash is a good entry level trail, as is Tax Collector. Come on out, we will only do what you are comfortable with.... ;) :D

I would love to come out on Friday but my youngest son (and co-pilot) doesn't get out of school until 12:30....I couldn't be out there until about 1:15-1:30. The wife, my co-pilot and I haven't been on a trail in WEEKS!!!!
Any chance of slightly later start???

Wayco, if you pushed back the start time I may be able to make it or meet you after you do a trail or two. I'm off at 10AM, stations off 75th street and Camelback. Looking at 11:30-12 out that way.................Drew

Yeah Jamie, maybe we can plan another run with Lance, you and I could run firebird in our "stock Jeeps" :D
Looks like this will be a small group, we should be finished early. :)

Firebird was my very first intro to crawling and while it can be daunting for a newbie it was really fun - I have already done it again with Tax Collector. If you haven't done it before just make sure you have a good spotter! :D

If anybody wants to do this later this weekend let me know I am going to see Pirates tomorrow so can't join you.

Met Paul and Steve (?) out on Watson Rd. today at 9 am. He has an older YJ that is more experienced than he is. :D We ran the first half of Tie rod wash before I could convince him to air down, then we really started having fun! Circled back to do Tax Collector and walked up Firebird a ways. Then I showed them Ruler and Turtle falls. Lots of sandy washes out there to play in, he should be good to go now. At least until the D-35 eats itself....

Hey neighbor!

Wayne, I saw you return home this afternoon. I have not looked at the VJC site for a while so I didn't know about your run this morning. Work gets in the way of things in the morning anyway. Sorry you missed another chance to see a "stock TJ" in action.:D

We are going to run the Great Western Trail on Sunday from the Southern end North to wherever. Want to go?

It does not look difficult but the scenery should be pretty.

We plan to depart about 7AM from the compound.

Good Luck,:D

We rolled right through these trails. When I wasn't driving, I was spotting Paul. Really, I don't think White Tanks trails are all that scenic anyway.
Glad you had a good time Paul, my pleasure showing you around my back yard. :)
Vince, I need to stay home this weekend and catch up on my "house husband" chores. Like re-seating the flagstone between our homes.... Thanks for the invite though, after you have scouted this trail out, I may be up for a run next month.
