Is anyone up for a night run at Table Mesa Saturday night? The trails will depend on the type of rigs that are interested (minus Mish of course:p ).

SHOCKER!!! I like it!!! I will see what is going on... We are supposed to go out for Ambs b-day.. She turned 22 on Tuesday so we are celebrating late. If nothing comes up, I might just see about borrowin' my pa's CJ7. Its a 4" lift SUA and 35's... About ZERO articulation with stock gears and a three speed!! it's good for about cruisin' dirt roads : ) TOO many rocks and the clutch goes bye bye!

Anyways... we need to F'in wheel! Lets me see what I can do!

TUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURTLE!

Interested but it would have to be pretty easy not to hardcore-ish stuff as the shoulder won't be cleared until the 29th.

Jamie, we are looking at the hardest being like UT. Chris R. will have the kids and my buddy with a XJ on 31's open will be running with us. Maybe something like the gas line or RD or UT.

RD should be ok, UT taking all the easy stuff is easier then RD. :D

Well, it seems we have gotten enough response to make this "official." If you want to join us, we are going to meet at the air down spot at 7:00pm and hit the trails by 7:30. Anyone interested is more than welcome to join us. The trails we will most likely run are Raw Deal, Upper Terminator and/or the gas line.

See Ya There!!!

Actually, it starts at the New River Exit, and runs through Table Mesa, to the South end of Black Canyon City. At least it did years ago when we used to run it. Either way, it just makes the trail longer, I guess...

Ok, Mr. Smarty Pants. :p Yes, you are right that the trail does go all the way to New River. But the closer you get to New River, the less interesting it is so we usually always skipped that part. Other than the first couple of hill climbs on the south side of Table Mesa Road, there really aren't any other "obstacles" so it does as you say just make the trail longer. But if you break down and, say, have to drive home in front wheel drive only, its a way to get closer to home before having to get on the pavement (assuming you can get up that first hill or two - might have to back up for better traction if you only got front wheel drive).

Well, here is my short version.

Had an awesome time wheeling. Shawna, Geno, Jamie, Lisa, Chris and family.
Something smelled real bad out there. No problems getting through. Shawna's XJ did great, and then it happened.
100ft from air down after all was said and done, a truck went by as we were crusing down the road. I swerved a bit too much and landed sideways in a ditch. Passenger side is demolished. Windsheild is toast. WS frame, bent in half. Luckily my two tires re-seated with little effort. And I'm OK, aside from some abrasions and bruises. (I keep finding more). Had my seat belt on as always.
Thanks to everyone for getting me out of there. Made a late night even later. Sorry:( .
I guess it's time for a new cage.

The wheelin was fun. Chris led the group and girls drove the other three Jeeps  I had a great time just spotting and riding shotgun. The Jeeps and drivers did great all through Upper T and Raw Deal. Shauna tore a 5" gash in the passenger rear Pro Crap MT while hitting Air Hole on RD. This one was a bit to large to get plugs to hold, so we changed out the tire and headed for the dirt road.

As we were headed back to the "Air Up" spot, Chris was up front, Jamie then Rachel and Shauna and I in back. Shauna and I were sitting back a little because the dust was thick. As we took one of the blind corners nearing the air-down spot, we were starteled by a puckup truck hauling rear around the corner. When we came around the next corner, through the dust, we seen headlights off the trail and pointed upward. Thats when shauna and I found Rachel on her side, in a wash that paralleled TM road. The turn was a left and down hill blind turn. Scared the Ba-Geezus out of us. We rushed over to find Rachel suspended by her seat belt, all I could say was, RACHEAL! THANK GOD YOU WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT! Well after lots of tugging, yanking, winching and pulling, we got here back on the road and pointed in the correct direction. Once we got Rachel's Jeep back on all 4's and on level ground, Shauna headed home to grab our V-8 WJ and Chris's car hauler as we were not sure of all the damage to the rig. Jamie, Rachel and I re-seated the passenger side tire beads with Co2 and gimpped her to the air-up spot. We all owwed and awwed over the damage as looking over the entire rig. After dialing a few things in, Rachel warned me of a squeal from the right front. We looked it over and I took it for a test drive a few hundred feet down the dirt road. A rock flew out of the brake caliper and the noise went by-by. Then just as I was doing a u-turn, the LCA bolt snapped  . You should have seen the look on my face when Rachel calmly said, "Its just a LCA bolt, I got a spare". So I got down there and swapped the bolt out, we checked the rest of them, did another safety check, Rachel did the next test drive and claimed that she felt comfortable driving her TJ home. Jamie called Chris and Shauna, canceled the tow rig/trailer, I hopped in with Jamie and we followed Rachel home.

It was a long night, but it would have been alot longer IF Rachel had been seriously injured. The real big help was the fact that every-one in our group, had the tools and know how to get all of us home! I'll tell you, this group didnt mess around! And I'm impressed with Jamie & Rachel as they were prepared with the necessary tools and equiptment.

Well, time to head outside and dial in the Shock-J. Its going to 35's baby :D

Looks like Geno got some good shots with your camera Rachel.

Here are some of mine last night... not as many good shots. Not Geno's falut, I think I have the brightness adjusted a little low.

Flexy Jeep:

http://i1.tinypic.com/5x4vh3n.jpg

Shauna's sliced tire:

http://i10.tinypic.com/52lblzt.jpg

Fixing it up by putting Chris's 35 on the front and putting the 33 from the front on the rear:

http://i15.tinypic.com/6829i5h.jpg

Geno was having problems "putting it in the hole" so Rachel had to guide him and take over:

http://i1.tinypic.com/4tgy984.jpg

Then it just went straight downhill from there:

http://i15.tinypic.com/4vmzwg1.jpg

After we got done fixing her stuff and getting it road worthy, we headed back out to TM Rd. and then Rachel had her burn:

http://i9.tinypic.com/6cepi74.jpg

It took me and Chris pulling and Rachel winching off of us at times to upright her and get her off the road:

http://i4.tinypic.com/6ew2bub.jpg

http://i14.tinypic.com/6fintxj.jpg

http://i19.tinypic.com/4v3mir5.jpg

Whole front left side pushed in:

http://i6.tinypic.com/6cz7148.jpg

We did have two spares but fortunately her tires popped back onto the beads and we made it to the air down spot. There we aired up and Geno took it for a test spin rally quick and just as he pulled back in a lower control arm mount broke.

We got that fixed right away and she actually drove it home. She says it drives better not then before the flop. I guess if that is one way to get your alignment corrected, then go for it!! LOL

The guy didn't but I think he actually double backed about 15 minutes later and asked if we were ok. I actually was at the front of the group on the way back to the air down spot and the headlights looked the same as the ones that passed us.

Rachel, I have some pics but I didn't have a good lighten feature done properly on the camera. I'm gonna have to see if I can lighten them a bit manually and see how well they come out. I have plenty of the aftermath though. Chris and his wife might have some good ones.

How's that bruise on your back? Was most of it dirt or is there a nice diagonal mark now?

BTW, after we all got done replacing that bolt, I forgot to put the camera away and once I came home I found it on the duster cover. Glad I have that spare on there that makes a hammock effect or that camera would have been lost.

Weird how stuff stays on the jeep sometimes. My camera LCD has a nice crack in it now. Oh well. The big mark on my shoulder is actually a skin abrasion. Other misc bruises on my back, but not too bad. Lots on my arms and legs. Thank God for seat belts!

You know, we waited at the airdown spot for about an hour. 75% of the vehiclels that went by were hauling. NONE of wich slowed to keep the dust down while driving by. IN FACT, most the a**H***s sped up spinning the rear tires :( . Not sure if they were trying to dust us or show us how little power they produce and how little traction their POS street tires get

Bunch of bung wads!

Wind_Danzer

Actually most slowed down as they got then then sped up to shower us with dust. I think the only ones that did really slow down were the quads while we waited for Chris.

Yup, those are MonkeyBars doors. They really held up well considering what was done. I don't know how fast I was going cuz my spedometer doesn't work well, but I admittingly was going too fast. And I launched off the 10' ledge. I'm surprised I didn't have more damage. If I can bend my tub back well enough, I will be buying another door from MonkeyBars.

Also you can see in one of the pics a big rock that the jeep landed on at the door area.
Luckily I did not have a passenger or there might be a broken leg/pelvis added to the damage report.

I would also like to thank this group. One for their patience, it takes longer to get rolling and I forgot about two things I needed to get fixed until it was time to leave so it put us late. So not only for your patience waiting, but also for us wheeling with the kiddos. We did a preliminary run at the White Tanks previously, but this was their first night run, we tried to time naps a little later in the day to keep them from being grumpy, did not work with the littlest one, and it takes longer to keep moving. Thanks for working with us on this.

Next this group showed alot of team work, everyone either had the tools, the parts or know how. No one was affraid to pitch in, offer a tool (see pics of changing tires...LOL), bling bling, or smart arse comment, and when it came time to really step up to get Rachel's rig back on all fours everyone talked, made good sound decisions, and everyone worked together. Part of that was also, even Jamie's friend who was pregnant helping my wife with the little ones and making calls to line up a trailer and tow rig. Literally, no one was not participating and stuck it out until the end.

So thank you all who made it a great night. Great group to go with. I think we all learned some lessons last night.

Rachel we are sorry your rig got FUBAR, but are VERY happy that bumps and bruises seem to be the worst, we wish you did not have to even have those.

Seems that there was a question about a fluid spill from the incident. Just so everyone is aware, the spill has been cleaned up. All contaminated dirt was shovelled up and out and disposed of. There were other oil spills out in the close vicinity that was hauled out, along with glass (Not mine) and other misc trash (Not mine).

As you can tell he doesn't have a set or he'd actually post up here with his "concerns".

BTW Rachel, nice job on getting back out there and double checking and catching stuff that we didn't fully catch at 3am. Sorry I was working at the airport today and called to late or I would have joined you.

Rachel,

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was actually trying to find the time too to go out there, I didn't want you to have to as I know you have been pretty sore from the bumps and bruises.

At 3:00am we did do a partial clean up of the area that night, but it was pretty dark. <Flame suit on> I will take full responsibility for not having any Petesorb or any other stuff to clean up the fluids with. I know I have come down on others for it, so now it is your turn to let me have so go for it. I own up to the mistake and it will not happen again. Given the trails we were going to the chance of a roll over did not cross my mind, but this was not even on them, it was on the road back to the air up spot, either way lesson learned never leave home for a trail run without it. In this case I am out of it, and made arrangements with a local shop who has some to pick some up this week.

In any case there was as much cleaned up as possible the night of the incident and thank you Rachel for going back and taking care of the rest.

Thanks! Nice to know some people actually care about my well being and not placing bets against me, or assuming ill intentions on my part.
Really frustrates me how ignorant and arrogant some people can be.
I did the best I could, and the fact that I cleaned the mess was not because of a certain PM. Was doing it on my own accord. Despite some peoples' preconcieved notion about me, I really am a resposible wheeler. Maybe it's just envy that I'm a girl and can wheel with the big dawgs. Accidents happen. And so does Karma.

Hmm, seems as though some one opened mouth, shoveled in feces as they've already eaten both feet to the knees.
Oh, the drama.

Glad to hear that you're OK, Rachel... and nothing popped

Bingo Rachell, ignorant & arrogant, just look at the source. Flexy is gulty of both. With-out all the facts, this shop owners first instinct is to point fingers and throw stones, NOT gather all the facts and maybe offer a hand to a few of us Jeepers that were involved that night (a hand outside of his normal scope of work). In the past, I had tried to understand this guy and even given him the benefit of the doubt, but he is what he is. Next time I see him, I will hand him a trash bag, a big heavy duty one, just to put his ego in.

BTW; I do my best NOT to buy parts from two faced dealers. I'll continue to take my Jeeping needs to Washington street or AJ. :)

Glad you are OK and got everything dialed in.

Interesting that he never showed up for the past two clean ups (except the trail one by BTG) and is complaining about my mess. Hmmm.
Well lets just say, Homeowner to a glass house.
Nobody's perfect here. We all just try to do our best.

So I seem to only see one side to the story. What is the other? I stuck my foot in my mouth once about the fingerpointing of being online during worktime, and I prefer not to do it again. A lot of big talk about a person here, with no comeback. Any reason for this? Were there any unfounded accusations by this person in a PM, that maybe should have been kept on the PM level? Not brought to light to the public forum? Saw something to that effect. Just seems onesided here. Rachael, I am still very thankful you did not get seriously injured. And thanks for going out and cleaning up the wreck site, shows respect for the land. Hope you get your rig back up and running.

Thanks Lance. Gonna get a used windsheild and build a cage. Got steel tubing on order tonight! :) Still got a sore shoulder and left side of my neck, but nothing Ibuprophen and time won't heal. Took out the carpet tonight. Emptied the jeep out, took off the cage padding, etc. Gonna get the windshield off this week. Lots to do! I think all in all, this turned out to be a good thing. See ya out there with my new doo soon!
