Does anyone have information about the Great Western Trail starting just East of Fountain Hills going North to about Sedona (I think)?
How difficult is it? How long would it take to do it? Is all the trail open?
I never hear anyone talking about it. Why?
Thanks,:)

I thought the Great Western Trail was set up for hiking/backpacking from Canada to Mexico.
There is an entry gate at the intersection of Bloody Basin Road and FR24 ...
and it is only for non motorized traffic ........

Anyone up to doing it South to north on Sunday, May 27th?
Start just East of Fountain Hills and follow it North as far as we want to go.
Where would be a good place to meet?

There's another one that stretches from Mexico to Canada along the Cascades through California, Oregon and Washington. We ran most of the Oregon section in a series of trips many years ago.
