I'd like to ride this Saturday in the Table Mesa area with a friend who has a TJ w/ LA lift & 33's & open diffs. I've never ridden Raw Deal, but from the write-ups, seems that or similar would be appropriate level. I have gone on Lower Terminator once and likely that or similar would be ok too. I've ridden with him once before and he breezed through Crown King without breaking a sweat.

Any folks who know the area like to join to keep us from getting too lost? Probably should start early to miss some of the heat.

ps. actually I'm looking to exercise my new lift (it'll be fun not to grind the skid plates on moderate obstacles!) any day from Thursday through Tuesday while my wife's out of town. Although my friend can only ride Saturday, I'm open to other suggestions/groups as well.

Let me know when you plan on going. I may not be able to go on Saturday, but would be up for Sunday for sure or maybe sometime during the week.

I'm pretty familiar with that area and could lead many of the trails out there.

Let me know if you want to go Sunday. I'm up for anything and haven't been out in a while. Otherwise, it looks like these guys are running Raw Deal on Saturday - I just can't make it Saturday.

Ken,

I'll run Raw Deal with you on Saturday Morning. Maybe do something else as well. I know the trail very well, almost to the point of it being boring for me.

Let me know what time.

I've been holding off replying because I haven't yet been able to reach my friend Jay from north Phoenix to confirm what he'd like to do.

I'm up for riding Sunday, though, either way. I'm in the mood to be really decadent this week and play on the rocks several days in a row.

Let's plan a Sunday ride, Jamie, and I'll deal with the other days separately. I do need your help recommending a trail or trails. It would be nice to at least do Lower Terminator again - dry rocks underfoot and more space under my Jeep's belly sure would make it more fun. I will defer to your experience on this choice.

Raw Deal on Saturday 19th sounds perfect. I suggest meeting at 8:00am, since I live in far east Mesa, but if you'd like to go earlier to avoid more heat, I'll drag my sorry bones out of bed earlier and be there :)

Ken,

8:00 works for me. I can get a little sleep that morning. I'm only 20 minutes south of Table Mesa:)

See you Saturday,

Can a 94 ZJ with 3.5", short arms, open/open on 32's attend, without being a slowdown for you all?
Also kids??

The only time I tried LT was stock with 32's. Had ground clearance problems. With 3.5" you should be fine. That day the guys with opens had traction problems but the ground was wet and slippery - this weekend that shouldn't be a problem. I like kids.

How difficult is Raw Deal? My jeep is on 31s and I just put on a 2 inch lift that I haven't gotten a chance to try out yet.

It should be about right for your Jeep. There are a lot of bypasses to get around stuff. If you feel like you are having trouble, ask someone for some advice. It's a really good trail for Jeeps and drivers of varying capabilities. My friend runs it all the time with a Cherokee on 31s. He doesn't have to take many of the bypasses.

I might be in as well, been going nuts for awhile and need to get the Jeep out and get some use. Is it still on for 8:00am?

I have a friend we took through on 31's on his YJ with no lift, only problem was lack of fliex from the leafs and he did not have this sway bar disconnected, took some spotting, his first ever crawling trip, and he made it with no damage to his rig.

Yes, it's still on for 8:00am Saturday.

Also, don't forget there's also a ride on Sunday. Same place, 8:00am.

On Lower Raw Deal, yes..... There are many by passes to make it with no problem. I have spoted a Kia Sorento (only mod was 30" AT tires) through lower Raw deal. I know all the lines.

Great ride today!:D We had 8 jeeps of widely varying build levels but everybody got through and everybody found ways to test our limits. Good group. Thanks a bunch to Matt for leading us - he's a very interesting and thoughtful guide. I've never seen a Grand Cherokee built up so nicely - I'm sure he enjoyed the opportunity to lead 7 Wranglers.;) Sorry, Josh, that your sweet CJ suffered some breakage, and I'm really glad you got home safely. The field repair you guys did on the broken rear leaf bracket was among the most creative I've seen: some wire, two vice-grips, quite a bit of duct tape, . . . and a fist-sized rock:confused:

A big highlight for me was when we got to play around on Upper Raw Deal. Thanks to Ben for letting me ride shotgun as he took a hard line . . . and for goading me into driving that same line a few minutes later:eek:

Attached are a few pictures, thanks to those who took some of them when I passed my camera around.

I just got back from another TM run w/ Ken. It'll probably take Ken a little while before he makes it home to East Mesa.

We ran Lower Term w/ Matt, Doug and Roger, then I tried to lead Doug and Ken through Upper Term, but wound up on Judgment Day. That's the second time I've done that - I've gotta get the turn onto Upper Term right. Anyway, we turned around, and Ken and I ran Predator.

All in all it was a good time. Not too much carnage. Matt broke a weld on his tire carrier, and Doug got a dent or too and some plastic damage.

Hopefully Ken will get some picks up when he gets home the evening.

Hi Wayne,

I was literally about to send you a PM with pics, when I saw you posted here. Look at the monster you created! What a difference a little lift makes! When we did the class, being able to do LT and Predator with no bypasses was well beyond the scope of my imagination. I'm still shaking my head today, feeling "I can't believe I ate the whole thing". You got me going well in the right direction in this great hobby (addiction). I do hope to ride with you soon.
