It looks like there is enough instrest in a Sedona CJ run here this summer to make this thread. I know it isn't easy getting the ole CJ's to go down the highway, but isn't that half the fun of it:) I was thinking a nice run up here when it is well above 100 for you Phx guys might be a welcome change of pace. I was thnking an early Broken Arrow, Cliffhanger and Soldiers Pass run would be cool. I would like to try and have the run start early, 7:00a.m. if possible. I can lead Broken Arrow and Cliffhanger, but don't have to. I don't have a CB, so if a couple of you do and want to lead and tail gun it, let me know. Otherwise, I have a good knowlege of those two trails. I have never been on Soldiers Pass, but from what I understand it is short and easy. All levels of rigs welcome, but keep in mind the trails max out at about 3.0 in Sedona so if you are really hardcore you might want to stay at Table Mesa and FJ. Ideally this would be an opportunity for us CJ drivers to get together, meet each other and appreciate our classic Jeeps on moderate trails, not to trash them and brake parts.
Edit: YJ's welcome too, you guys never have working A/C or coils and some of you have Carbs...I think us CJ'ers could allow a few old YJ's to tag along. Right?

I think that date works OK for me. Put me down as tentative for now. I'll know more as the date gets closer.
You might also add a calendar entry with a link back to this thread...

FYI, you may want to set an earlier date, just in case. We had total forest closure by June 24 last year and fire conditions are the same if not worse right now. Plus, it will still be close to 100 in Sedona at the end of June--are you sure your old CJ's can handle it? :D (Donning flame suit...)

Done.
It's pretty easy really. Just click the Calendar link (above), then select the "Single All Day Event" link (lower right), put in the day of the event, give it a title and paste in the URL to this thread.
Thanks for the heads up, Nena. We should probably watch the FS closure site pretty close.
I know my CJ can handle the heat OK; it's the long drive up at freeway speeds that worries me :)

Sounds like a great idea. I wonder why we need to have these so far out in the furture? Maybe we should have a CJ warm up run, say this or next saturday. Anyone up for that?

I'm flying to Orlando 5/14 so I have to say home and get things taken care of this weekend before I go. I could go out the weekend of the 19th/20th.

Heck, with the forest closures imminent lets go on the 19th or 20th of May. I only wanted to do it out later so I could have time to fix my throwout bearing first. It should be fine for a while. I like the idea of another May run. Anyone know how to change the tag line above the post...or we could keep it too. If the forest is open, run it. If not, be glad we did in May. Thanks for the heads up Nena. And yes, our CJ's can make it, remember my amazingly perfect driving out of cliffahanger;) I just want to do a CJ run in Sedona relatively soon.

Not sure I can have things ready for a 4-5 hour drive to Sedona in that short a time (fly home on 18th) but I'll see what I can do. Anyone know where I can rent a pickup/tow rig on the cheap?

I'd love to go anytime except May 19, 20, 21. The Jeep Expeditions group http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/CanyonDeChellyJeepTrip/ is going on a 3-day trip up to Canyon De Chelly those dates and I'm a go'n. The first long trip in the Scrambler! How's about June 2nd?? I really wanted to go on the last one but the 8 wasn't ready then. Hate to miss this one, but don't change things just for me.

Lets set up a CJ run (we can leave it open for others as well) for the 19th in town or in Sedona depending on what everyone wants. I'd like to do a TM run if everyone is up for that, But might be up for a drive north.

Hey all, I'm going camping with a bunch of friends that weekend (5/19-21) out at Bartlett lake. They will all be playing on their boats, but I was going to go wheeling instead... I was thinking Log Corral would be fun. I have never done it, but from some of the pics it looked cool. Also, water to play in!!!
How would that sound? Has anyone ever done it?

I could get a truck capable.... but, do you have a trailor capable of towing two cj-7s?
for the truck we'll just need to pay for gas.

No, I just need a truck to flat tow my CJ (5).
I'm confused now as to what, if any, trails are being planned for the 19th (or 20th?). If Sedona then I likely won't have time to get logistics handled in the few days I have before I leave for Florida, so I'll wait for a June run. If something local, I can just drive and should be able to make a run. I'll check this or other run post threads when I get back next Friday.

I'm still doing the Log Corral trail on Sat 19, so if anyone wants to meet me there please let me know. I'll wait and see on replies before I set times etc... Oh ya never done this trail before.

I am new to this site and new to 4 wheeling. Easy is the best way to start for me and from what I am reading in the posts regarding Sedona, that sounds like a good beginner trip for me. I just recently lifted my 2004 Jeep Rubicon and am looking to enjoy my investment. Please keep me posted on the dates, I would like to participate. Thanks!

Welcome, Tanja.
This thread was posted as a "CJ only" (vintage Jeeps) run but it appears it won't be happening anyway given the dryness of the forests and the high fire danger - unless it rains a lot in Sedona between now and then.
Keep an eye on this site for more runs posted and/or post up a run for something easy and ask for a trip leader and it's very likely someone will be happy to show you some local trails.

Hey I ran into you guys when you ran a CJ only Woodpecker run a month or so ago. I was running the only CJ in my group (I was stuck with a bunch of XJ's). I just got on this forum and thought I would like to join you guys for the trip. I will be trailering mine up there (ya a trailer queen what can I say) But I thought it would be fun to meet new friends with similar likes (old stuff that is). I have run Sedona a bunch of times including Soldier Pass. This would be a good trip for all levels of capability.

Whats wrong with the T-case?

Whats wrong with the T-case?
Loose rear output...dont really know what is wrong cause I havent had time to check it out. I can wobble the driveshaft within the output, might just need to be tightened or it might be a more serious problem with the d-20

So, I see how it is. Posting up a trail run thinking that it would be closed.:D Maybe once it cools off we can setup another CJ run up North.

That works for me. Making a 3-4 hour drive up to Sedona with no AC, wheeling all day, then the long drive home doesn't sound to appealing in this heat :D
I spend 6 weeks in Austin from late Aug - early Oct. By the time I return it should be starting to cool down. How about late Oct/ or Nov?

That really works better.. .....also gives me time to get the Dana 44's off the floor and under the Renegade.

October / November is good for a Sedona run. We're in.
