Well I just picked up a 70 Kaiser Dj-5 it had the GM 4 cylinder and a power glide trans in it... but the engine and trans have been removed by Original owner..
it has a Narrow Trac Dana 44 with 3.73 gears. and it was obvously 2 wheel drive.

I will be posting pictures Later on on how it looks now, and as I get the time to build it I will creat a Build-up section on my webpage.

I plan the stretch the wheel base, and turn it into a pure Rock buggie.

THinking Either Dana 60's or get some rockwells.
Chevy 350 Fuel Injected, with NV-4500 Trans, and a Atlas or Stak T-case.

I plan to run some where between 38-44 inch tires.

full tubed body with possibly using the original grill and hood ( mostly likey choped and shortened.

What do you guys think... Ideas.. thoughts?

Adam

Ohh and yes it is right hand drive, but I'll fix that.

I towed it a few miles for him today, we got it up to 45 what fun. It will need a whole lot of work but it was money well spent. Did you mention the sweet red white and blue paintjob:)

just as an fyi, the rear axle is super narrow 44 (about 2" narrower than "narrow track" used up untill about 82)

About the only things you will find useful off this will be:
- front sheet metal
- Radiator (if it has one)
- windshield
- cowling (you'll have to chop a bunch of other stuff loose from it though)
- Steering column (maybe...)
- Lights and some of the wiring (maybe...)
- Misc. suspension brackets & other misc. parts/pieces...
- Oh yea... The title...

The frame is NOT boxed and is WAY too flexy to be of much use without MAJOR reinforcements (AND... it will be cheaper and stronger to build one from box tubing anyway...)

The rest is basically scrap steel, but the good news is that prices are up on scrap steel these days...

By-the-By... I also towed home a Kaiser 1970 Dj-5 the other day... It too is missing the eng & tranny, but is otherwise basically all there... Hoping to get a couple hundred for it in scrap value...:D :p ;)

Adam,
Whats all this about you moving off the hill? What are you smoking? Have you been to Phx? Just kidding,,,,, some folks (too many for me) like it very well down there. That was a great place to live in the 50's and 60's. Well, maybe we can get together for some wheeling elswhere if not the cinders. Might go Sat. or maybe Dugas rd. down to the Verde, and back via Camp Verde. We'll have to see if it is really going to rain. Don't want to rut up any trails.
Good luck to you in Phx., with whatever endever you are going to persue. I have to go through Flag. tomorrow on my way to Marbel Canyon. Thought I would stop , and say "Hi". Guess that wont work, huh? lol
Tail Winds,
Don
