Taking the back way up from Lake Pleasant to Crown King...stopping for lunch in Crown King...We already have a lead (mike_cj_77) and there will be kids...post if you're interested and we'll figure out rally place and time.
hey,
They're having a chili cookoff in CK on Sat
I was thinking about going, but I kinda wanted to go up a slightly diiferent way. see attachemnt. Still no harder than the other backway. Could either meet back up with the CK trail or go up to Senator Hwy Don't know if you're interested

I'll talk to Mike-CJ-77 but I don't think it would be a problem to go up that way...he was saying that the road we were going to take is graded like a highway, so that way may be more interesting...

Oh, what trail rating is the one on the map? Curious.
Nothing more than the CK trail. I've run part of it.
In fact, where'd you go back to the CK trail would probably be the more difficult spots

Never mind. I couldn't see the map without my glasses lol
It's pretty much the same trip. It doesn't matter to me if we go the right or through Castle Hot Springs
How about 8:00 at Wild Horse ? ( thats where I'll leave my truck)

Sounds good, can we rally with you in Gilbert and follow to Wild Horse??
8 is fine
You can go through Castle Hot Springs, then go over on on Champie rd back to Cow Springs rd.
Or, up through CHS, then a bit up Buckhorn, then a road up to Cow Springs (see attachment) The trail to the left is the way I came back last time I went up that way. All pretty easy
The one right up the middle also looks interesting - never been that way

Sure. Plan on Gilbert and 60 @ 7:00 and it will take about 1 hr to get there.
I guess we're eating chili for lunch. Should be a fun trip:)

They graded all of the diffucult stuff awhile back. Last trip I saw houses being built all the way up to Castle Hot Springs.
We can decide which trail on Sat. I doesn't matter to me, they all end up on the same road anyhow

Does this help
I can be there at 8
I'll bring my GPS and laptop - but we can decide as we go, I suppose
There's not too much '4wheeling' sticking to the main roads - they like to do alot of grading up there

Yeah, my last trip up I forgot to lock my hubs and didn't notice untill the top where there was snow.
There is a few side roads that might be fun

Of course! We wouldn't miss it for the world! A little drama isn't going to get us down - if it did, it would be hard to go to work! LOL!!!
It doesn't have the pleasant nick-name "as the guard turns" for nothing! :)
We will be looking forward to seeing you and the fam and also meeting some of the other people from VJC - everyone we've met so far has been great people......it is a good part of why the bug bit us (well, besides that rock garden...must get REAL gas tank skid plate before doing that again!!)

We're meeting at the Wild Horse at 0800....you want to hold off (from being at trail head) about a half hour and meet there to make it tons less confusing for all??

Me the wife and another couple are going up the front way (no jeeps this trip quads only)
but I noticed from the map you are taking the really long way ...
you dont have to go through walkers gulch , just take that first right and look for the CK rock, (me and my friends flipped back over) and make a right...'
This will save you a few hours...
Any way you go , we will be camping up there so stop by and have a drink on us....:D

I think we are deciding between the two at the wild horse --- I know that other group that is starting at 0730 will have a truck and some other full sized vehicle and mentioned they may be bogged down waiting for them...the long way may end up being the short way if one of those gets stuck and holds everything up....We're up for whatever though....
If anyone wants to meet in the east valley and convoy up to the wild horse, we will be waiting at the gas station off the 60 and gilbert road (the one just north of the 60 on the west side of gilbert) at 0700.

OK fine, you guys are killing me! How can I pass up a run. I'll meet you at the gas station at 0700 on Gilbert.
I spent a good part of last night flushing my radiator and changing the thermostat because I've been overheating. Guess I'm gonna have to put a fan shroud on before summer DOH!
I also see a tranny cooler in my future.

*** disclaimer *** this is my lunch hour. My boss was requested via email to allow me to look at the site I'm addicted to.....that being said....
Cool, sounds good! I think I am running over to 4wheelers to buy spider crushers with tubes in 10 min if cole has them in stock at the 263.00 price...
If our schedules don't work out with Mike CJ5 tonight, do you mind at all helping us get them on the jeep?

If you are looking for crusher corner guards with tube flare for 263.00 you better run and get them now cause that is smoking price. About half the price I paid.

Amber, I'm sorta down with some strange bug or my allergies are getting me something fierce. I'm gonna take the rest of the day to rest for tomorrow.
Carrie, sorry another day is going by without getting the back yard done.
I know this isn't the appology thread but I'm too wiped out to go to the other thread.

First, I cannot say that I have ever been so absolutely caked with dirt in my life!
Crown King was a great run. There was a lot of dust flying on the way in and on the way out as the begining of the trail coming from Pleasant was graded, as of course, is the front way that we used to egress.
We went right at the fork in the trail after castle hot springs and it was well worth it. Kiwi and friends went left and arrived an hour ahead of us but with less obstacles to have fun on.
We got hung up behind a gaggle of Land Rovers, and boy am I glad we didn't waste 60,000 on one of those stupid things! They got butt hurt that we were passing them up and insisted we waited in line, but they got over it. We made sure we kept the breaks short on the trail to avoid having to pass them again!
There were about 3 or 4 vehicles off the trail that had been there anywhere up to 10 years or more.
History lessons on Fort Misery, Orabella Mine, Castle Hot Springs, and Crown King's bar were provided by Obi1Jeep and Mike 77 CJ5 and Rich (forgot handle) via cb radio...
Comic relief was provided by Fireball, who by the way, Mrs Fireball - was bragging on your driving skills the whole way up.
We ran across a gaggle of marines (zeitler and co) and finally made it to Crown King for a cold beer and chili - unfortunately, we arrived at 1345 and all the chili was gone.
Remi got to enjoy a ride home with Fireball, and we hear he seranaded you all the way back with ba-ba black sheep and other hip tunes!
This was a great second jeep run for us and we had a great time! Thank you Steve, Mike & Fam, Bill, Carl & friends & fam, Rich for coming out and playing!!!

Just got home and hosed the layer of dust off the old body... Had to let the shower run extra long to make sure it didn't plug the drain... :D ...
Gonna grab a cool one, and plant my bucket...:p
Good day of trail riding with the whole gang... Nice to be able to start putting faces with some of the screen names... Thanx for the invite and good company...:) ;)

Well, we had a nice run going around the longer way. Fun trail, with little fun parts. Checked the mine at Minehaha. Decided to head down the backway after lunch at the mill, but, about a mile down, ripped out a valve stem, no spare :( used my buddies Toy spare, and just went home down the county road
