This was off of www.Paysonjeeptours.com the write up looks touristy...all the sites google came up with were hiking trails...unless there is a jeep trail that isn't listed anywhere I could see....
Diamond Point Trail Hike & 4x4 tour $73 / person, Kids $35
This is for the above average hiker! The trail starts on an old road just east of Star Valley. The trek traverses Lion Springs Draw and winds through dense forest of Ponderosa Pine, Alligator Juniper, Arizona Oak and Pinion Pine. After about 1/2 mile, the trail joins an old dirt road on the way to Diamond Springs. At Diamond Springs, there are some of the largest Alligator Juniper this writer has even seen. At the dirt road's end, a hiking trail takes us to the top of Diamond Point (elevation 6380 feet). At this point, there is an old cave to explore and then a leisurely return.

ummmm have you looked in the trail section in the forum - like the write ups? There are also nifty books on trails in az (although I haven't bought one yet, I'm sure we will in the next few days)...
I'd look in there and see if you find anyone else who is going out so you don't go out alone - we did our first run this weekend and wouldn't have been nearly as daring had we not seen someone with a similar clearance ahead of us doing this stuff first. Also, if you break your jeep you have a way to get out of there. :) my input at least...!

i am new to AZVJC but not to wheelin. I go out all the time with friends of mine(tjs and trucks). Its fun to show up the full size and when they have to park it makes me feel like i made the right offroader choice.
well, I drove the Diamond Point last year - all 2wd.
I 'think' I know which cave they're talking about, kinda cool but not too much to it.

I figured that was the case (not new to offroad but to this forum)...We went out off roading in trucks as teenagers, but nobody ever knew what they were doing and I'll never forget getting stuck overnight at bushnell tanks when we were 16!!! Very, very new to going off road on more than what I guess people in here would rate a 1.5 or more -- and totally cherry on jeepin...!
I think we're running up to Crown King this weekend if you are looking for a trail...

If you look right in the middle of your map, you will see Pyaett Draw, one of
the country's premier trails.:D

What rating is it? I think we are sticking to trails 3.0 or below for a very, very long time until we get better and won't snap an axel or anything.
Even coming up through Preacher canyon was fun. There's one pretty decent hill climb you gotta do...
Once I get my trail armor on, I'll do the Draw...

The cave on the map is not the cave they have pictured. There is more to the cave that sounds like you didn't find, but you need the right gear.
Both caves are in the same general area, but different caves for sure. The cave they have pictured is not on any USGS maps.

Ill try and grab the topo map from michael with directions to the trail area preacher canyon. Most of the trails out there are old logging roads, we had to clear a couple of fallen trees last time to get out

How is your jeep setup? With some basic rock sliders and an oil pan skid you sould be able to run pyeatt
Heres a quick vid I made of pyeatt draw last year http://www.higherground4x4.com/movies/pyeatt_draw.wmv

That entire area out there has lots of good trails, some are easy some are more challenging. Its nice being up in the trees and away from the cactus :)
Well, I know one other cave, but it's supposed to be 'secret' so I didn't divulge on a public forum....

There is one trail on the east side of Star Valley right next to Diamond point called the fr rd 433 rated a 3,if you do not have at least some clearence and lockers Payutte Draw will eat you up as the winter rains and snows have dug down the wash considerably, the temps at this time of year are perfect for camping and running the northern trails.......T.C.:)

Nice vid and report, Chris. I bet it was lots of fun in the rain :)
I've never seen the waterfall flowing or the pool that deep - and I'm not sure I'd want to be in the draw during those conditions
