View Full Version : Trying to find trails to the lakes...

I'm trying to find some trails that lead to lake access on some of the closer lakes like sagauro or canyon. Apache is cool too, but its still pretty low from the damn maintenance. It does not have to be a beach, but I would like a good place to sit nearby.
As for trail difficulty. I would prefer to keep it 3.0 or less. I hear Butcher Jones can get a little rutted. I've just go a BB and 31's. Also, if you can point to any online trail maps of those you suggest, that would be a bonus.
Summer is coming and I'm trying to satisfy my desire for a boat without the big hit to the wallet.
Any help is appreciated.

Butcher Jones is probably the easiest terrain with lake access.
Beeling to Bartlett (aka Log Corral) has some tougher spots and 31's would be rough on the belly.
FR42 is still closed as far as I know.

x2. I have a buddy that runs a stock '04 4Runner to coves 1, 2, and 3 with no problems at all.

You can get to any of the coves a with a stock 4x4. But the way it sounds u want to pull a boat back and launch it ?

I dislike maintenance as much as the next guy, but ya gotta be careful round here, that kind of language is no longer tollerable... :D

Give a call when you're all fixed up and we'll go out again. I go there a lot alone but it gets kinda boring. I'm trying to get the nerve to try that climb on the east side of cove 1 and don't wanna do it while there alone.
Also, the more the merrier.

Thanks for all the replys, have been too busy to check the thread this week. Sounds like Butcher Jones is the best bet. I'll have to get out there and check it out. Unfortunately I'll be out of town this weekend so I won't be able to join you. I'll try and get some time next weekend and throw it up on the board for all to see.
Thanks again for the input.
