Hey guys, I don't own a Jeep, but I am into four wheeling and I'm from Arizona. I actually own a Toyota and usually post on www.yotatech.com, but I am familiar with your club from seeing you guys out on the trails from time to time, and have seen the stickers and what not. The reason I'm sending you this e-mail is I found this website called www.dirtopia.com . It is a website where people can post pics, directions, descriptions, of any sort of off road trail anywhere in America, but it's really well organized. I checked for trails in Arizona, but so far there is only 2 listed. The website is pretty new, but if the word gets out and people start to contribute to it I think this can be an extremely valuable source of information for all off roaders to have one single, well organized website with a list of all trails in their state. The reason I'm telling you this is your club seems to have quite a few members so I figured many of them have a lot of valuable knowledge of trails in Arizona that they could share online that would really help get the ball rolling. I tried sending an e-mail to the website but it said the address didn't work, I just wanted to suggest maybe telling everyone about the website in your newsletter or emailing to them. I think dirtopia.com could be a really good tool for everyone in the Arizona 4x4 scene. I don't work for the website and I'm not trying to sell anything or try to tell you how to run your club, I just really like the idea of this website and want to help get the word out to other groups/clubs that I think would benefit from it and have information to share.
Thanks,
Kyle

I have a couple places my wife and I go that we don't share with anybody. It is a beautiful quite area up on the rim and there is no trash or idiots around.

Just to keep this on track, this issue is not about not sharing at all -- make no mistake. This is about not publically posting trails and locations. Very big difference.

In fact, sharing is critical. It is the method of sharing, about educating and policing our own that are all critical factors to keeping our trails available for future use.

Unrelated to the issue, personally, if I had a truly secret wheeling area, I wouldn't even acknowledge it existed. There would be no productive point.

Kyle,
Thank you for posting. I am sure those that whish to share trail info will go to your site and post or update as needed. We have many folks that know the trails well and can offer updated information, I am sure.
