Not a Jeep but a Dodge none the less......

1999 Dodge durango 5.9 lt. 4x4 with a problem or running through right front brake pads quickly ... very scored rotor.... The problem seems that the caliper does not float back.. ( single piston) Do you guys think that a new set of mounting pins and a hardware kits with bushings will fix this. Obviously looking to replace the rotors as well...

OR

is this a fix that only a new pair of calipers will fix.....

If it was me I'd probably remove the caliper and make sure everything is nice and clean first. I'd completely remove the brake line and use some compressed air in the brake line hole to "spit out" the piston. Do this very gently with a low amount of compressed air so it doesn't shoot across the room and score the piston. I would clean the inside sufficiently with brake cleaner and check all the rubber to make sure it's flexible and not ripped. Now clean or replace all these pins.

Lubricate the appropriate places (including the pins) and reassemble (with new pads). Bleed your brakes starting with the brake furthest from the master cyl and continue in this order until all 4 are done.

If the scores on the rotors are not too deep, you should be able to take them to Checker or Autozone and have them turned.

Checker charges $10 per rotor to turn them

This is typically a result of wear on the caliper ways or slides. One portion of the guide surface is on the caliper, the other is on the mounting bracket... Make sure to check for wear of both, then replace the offending parts.
