About three weeks ago some old guy attempted to make a left turn in front of me, and he didn't make it. I was in my Jeep doing about 30 mph when I hit my right front corner fender/bumper into his car. The Jeep went to a collision center that was recommended by our insurance and Power Jeep. They fixed the problems " I hope ". They measured the frame and checked everything out and said all is well.
Right after the accident I noticed the front sway bar was pushed all the way to the drivers side. The passenger side is rubbing the frame. We told the collision center our concern about it and the said they would check it out. When we picked it up they said there was no problem and the sway bar had just slid over and they slid it back into place. I looked it over before we left with it and it looked good and back in place. After driving it on highway for about a 100 miles I noticed the sway bar is pushed back again to the drivers side. I can't find anything obvious that is wrong. Anyone have an idea as to what would cause the sway bar to keep sliding to the drivers side? The Jeep is definitely going back to the shop. But I would like to know what could be the problem so I don't go into this blind.

It used to do it to mine too. I think it happens alot on tjs/ljs Mine hasn't been wrecked either and did it. Here is a fix i found http://www.4x4xplor.com/swaybar-fix.html
or you could run a off road swaybar like antirock or something like that.

2 things come into play: The frame and the sway bar. If they have ascertained the frame is correct, then is the sway bar sprung (bent).

Loosen the bolts holding down the sb on the frame. Just enough so as you can move the sb by hand. Center the sb on the frame at that location. Now check frame to sb distance at the rear attachment points. Is it also center there? If so your sb is most likely ok.

You might just need some new sb bushings to hold it a bit firmer. The frame sb attach points primarily serve to hold the sb in a fixed position vertically then horizontally. You should be able to raise/lower the rear attachment points of the sb by hand with firm but even resistance up and down. If not, you can remove your bushings and clean them with a light cleaner such as 409 or windex and clean the sb also. Then reinstall and tighten equally on both sides.

Le me know how this all works out for you...
