I am new here but would like to get your opinion's
I would like to know if the Nth kit is worth the extra $$ amount. Will it out perform the RK LA kit or any other LA kit.
Pro's and Con's
Thanks,
Tim

This discussion can drag on for weeks and at the end you still will not have the answer you are seeking.
What I suggest you do it visit the websites and study how they are put together and what if any advantages they claim. While I was at it I would also look at the Rubicon Express products and any other products that some of the folks are running.
After you have done that then I would decide upon my overall goals in terms on tire size, lift, level of difficulty of trails and how often you plan on wheeling. When you can answer those questions I am sure you will find the answer to which lift in there.
I don't run either of those lifts so I cannot say and until you provide us with more parameters to work from we cannot make any valid suggestions.:)
I like Don's response. I'm looking forward to see how the 'advice/discussion' goes. I'm debating on restocking my popcorn supply:D

Define 'out perform'.
I have the Nth kit and REALLY like it. I have run with a couple of guys who have the RK kit and they do very well.
Cons on the Nth kit: Price. Also all bolt on, some folks don't care for that. The front DS is left a little exposed on the Nth kit as well.
Pros on the Nth kit: Drives really great, and is exceedingly stable on the trail. Excellent clearance.
Cons on th RK kit: Seems like it can flex too much, and it can have the front spring unloading drama, but that can be fixed with limiting straps.
Pros on the RK kit: Price. Looks to do really well on the trail also. I saw JD get over Rocker Knocker in Moab with his RK equipped LJ. That says something. I think RK has better local support too.
I don't think you can go wrong with either kit.

I run the complete Nth LA setup. and I have to agree with the above.

Now I am learning something...I have done Rocker Knocker;)
Dump Bump, now there is a diffcult one, I have done it, but it was not easy:eek:
There are a couple of pics of the RK, Nth, Tera LCG and RE LA's lifts, in action, from a run this past weekend. They are located here: http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/showthread.php?t=20805
No super-nasty obstacles were shown and all three LA kits made the same obstacles. The RE LA only ran one of the trails, because of having to head back up the the high country, but I'm sure it would have been just fine with running the second trail we did.
Kent,
Don't you have a test to study for or something? ;)

RK easy access to the Trans and Trans fer case... Nth not so easy access..
Either way they are both Great kits and they will both perform excellently on or off the trails..
We fully support Both Rock Krawler and Nth Degree!! :D

I'm not going to poop on the Nth kit, becuase I am sure that it does work extremely well. However I usually try to subscribe to the K.I.S.S montra and there sure does seem to be crazy high number of "Parts" to the Nth setup.
RK is pretty simple, BEEF.
All other factors being equal I'd go with the simpler setup of the too. In my mind more parts and botls equals more things that can break at one point in time or another.

I have decided to go with the nth kit, Desertfab has to TJ's there that they are finishing up one with the Nth LA and the other with the RK LA. This way I could see the difference in the kits side by side.
Thanks for the input guy's!!

This is what I would get. the high clearance arms will give you 2 to 3 inches of extra ground clearance over those 2 other kits

just curious how do you figure that kit has 2-3 inches clearance over an nth kit?

My badd, simular design to the TNT kit. except the TNT has lower rear triangulated arms built into it. A little better geometry

I say, don't lift it or modify it in any way. Leave it stock, drive it on the street and stop all of this "off roading" nonsense.

Desertfab showed me the TNT kit also, the major thing I did not like was if you have remove the skid pan you have to drop the link arms also. That would be a major pain.

I really thought about it, but I want a kit that does not take alot of maint. I did not like the use of rod ends. Rod ends always wear and get noisy fairly quick. The arms are very strong but some of the other components do not seem that beefy.

With control arms like RK's Everything that attaches to them has to be beefy.
Plus, you might not realize it now, but EVERYTHING needs maintenance on your jeep. :D
Good luck with your purchase.

Didn't Nth have problems with control arm bushings wearing out on the LA or was that just the SA kits?

They got a bad batch of bushings about a year and change ago, long since resolved.

I have the RK 5.5 LA with welded in cradle in the rear. I just threw away my
steering stab. It drives fine without it.
Don't know about the Nth, but there can be steering issues
with the RK. My Currie HD hits the swaybar bracket and stuff, but will fix
that soon. Love the way it flexes, and yes, I do have limit straps on the front
to prevent it from unloading on vertical stuff. Easy to do.
AND I LIKE THE BEEF!
Really the problem with any long arm, RE, Nth, RK, is a good installer to do it right!

I know everything needs maint. but if you have seen the gyro-joints on the Nth LA. I do not see these wearing out real fast.
Desertfab showed me a box of old RK rod ends that where sloppy, I do not want clunky noises.
I am not saying RK is bad at all, just DF explained the Pro's & Con's of 4 different kits and I feel the Nth is the best for me.
I will also be going with DesertFab's cross over steering so there are no steering issues.
My gyros have just over 14,000 street pimpin, mall crawlin, miles on them. They are holding up well for the way they've been treated (insert lil devil smiley here).
