Anyone gotten 35" MTR's lately (within the last month) from Discount Tire??
I dropped off a MTR for road hazard replacement way more than a month ago. I'm still being told there are none available.
Anybody?
Thanks

I checked about two weeks ago and they couldn't even give me an eta... which was based on a call that I witnessed to Goodyear... it doesn't look good.

I bought some 31 MT/R's at Goodyear yesterday. He said I got the last ones in Phoenix in that size. Anyway we got to talk'n. And he said they still haven't caught up because of the strike. He also said all the 35's are going to Iraq for the military.

If you want MTRs that are actually 35" tall (vs. those that are marked 35") better get 37s.
Good luck Woody,
I just got done picking up a vulcanized sidewalled 35x12.5x15 MTR to use as a trail spare from a fellow member. The cost was right and I just couldn't find another one around, on darn near any board I tried. There goes the five tire rotation and its going to be fun trying to get Discount to mount it for me. I'm sure they are going to quote some type of a liability issue... Wish me luck and I do wish you luck, on your search.
Lets hit the trail sometime soon,
Huck

This seems to be an ongoing problem. So what's the best alternative to the MTR (35") for daily driver/rock crawler?

I have been thinking of going with a set of Baja Claws for my set up for various reasons, which would put a set of 5 MTR's on the market, the front two are 85%, the rear 60% and the spare has plenty of tread, but came off a friends rig that had some front end problems so it is pretty cupped, but no cuts. Maybe now would be a good time to put them on the market.

I was trying to get 37's last summer and none to be found. Ended up with SS Iroks and I'm completly happy with them.

maybe consider the Maxxis Trepadors. Seems like a great alternative to MTRs.

Woody, you don't DD do you? If not, think about the Maxxis Creepy Crawlies. They hook up great!

Has Goodyear issued any kind of statement as to when availability will return to normal?

I bought a set of 4- 33 x 12.5 MTR last Friday and had them installed on Monday. I spoke a little to the salesman/dealer and he said longest wait is maybe a week. Turned out, he had mine a day later..I just couldn't make a Saturday appointment.
My guy was Andy at Discount Tire Chandler Blvd and Kyrene in Chandler.
Could be there are more 33s out there than 35s...I don't know.

Maybe Rick Beer can get involved and get the tire faster. Worth a try anyways... a month sounds like they forgot or something

Hang in there
The Goodyear strike was resolved faster than expected...(over by Late Jan.early Feb)But the trickel down efect is still being felt through out the US.
A few companies still have them but are hording them for more $$$$ The AMERICAN way
Most tire co. have a supply for emergency release "ONLY".... BUT the MTR'S are not an OE "size" there for not subjected to this demand...Other than the LT 245-75r16 for the Rubi's
Seems like Goodyear always has a strike every few years They never did catch "up" from the last one

They are worth the wait....;)

They are worth the wait....;)As long as it's dry out ;) My opinion at least. Mine hook up great when it's dry but when it's wet trying to get them to grab is liking trying to catch a greased up pig. Luckily it doesn't rain here all that much.
