Does anyone local make somthing like these rock rings? These aren't beadlocks, just steel rings that welds to the inside of the wheel lip.

I'm thinking about buying some rock rings like these from CRS and welding them in. Then maybe some internal beadlocks sometime later on but the immediate goal would be just to strengthen the steel wheels and protect the valve stem.
Thanks,
Ben

I am sure someone local makes them...who I dont know. However, I do know first hand these guys make some nice weld-on BL's and rock rings.

What size rims are you looking for? I was going to do the same to my 17's and decided to go another route.
I bought 5 aluminum rings that I was originally going to weld on. If you are interested, you can have them for what I have in to them.

I've thought about the DIY weldon beadlock rings... but I'm new to welding and I'm sure I'd have air leaks all over the place. I can manage some simple weldon protective rings though that aren't reliant on having an airtight weld-bead.

Understandable...also if you re-read my post I mentioned the rock rings...and that is the link I included.
Btw - I think this is a good idea. I ran 15" steel wheels for several years and they were beat up pretty good. The rock rings are functional, and look good to boot.
Spray them with a good primer and automotive or tractor paint too.

Rich,
I think Ballistic Fabrication was making some aluminum rock rings at one time... they also made some DIY beadlock rings like the ones in this Pirate4x4 thread:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=476221
or you could email Kyle at copperheadfab.com which is where I got my steel rings. Ask him if he could cut a set of aluminum rings on his CNC plasma cutter.

Thanks Ben, unless someone else posts up about local alum. rock rings I'll check out copperheadfab.
Your wheels are looking really good. Now all you need is the Staun beadlocks. :D

BUMP...... back from the dead.. Anyone local do these ????
Contemplated doing DIY bead locks but these things would fit the bill to help strengthen a 2.75" backspaced set of steel rims....
Local or Copperhead will prolly get a call soon.

Ben had his welded on locally from the new guy over in Tempe. I can't remember the name of his shop off the top of my head though.
Edit: I just saw the name over in the Products Review forum. It was Truckwerks that he had them put on at.

Jeff -
If you're gonna weld something on the rims in either case, why not do something with more function like true bead-locks???
15 inch weld on DIY kit is avialable at DesertFab !! :D
