Stream of thought answer:

MAKE SURE SOMEONES THERE TO TAKE PICS! If youre alone.. shame on you... walk your happy*** (censored) out and get someone to take pics before continuing your flop!

turn the key off immediately :D make sure everyone is safe. get out proper recovery gear before the roll if youre sure youre gonna go over. Have your strap ready, take charge of the recovery if you know what yorue doing, Find someone that will if you dont. Clear all non essential peopel from the area to avoid injury. clean up your spills, shovel the sand/oil into the back of the jeep if you have to.

STarting it back up just tap the ignition to make sure its gonna continue to turn over. So long as it moves through the stroke then go ahead and start ti and let it burn off what oil leaked past the rings if it stops turning over then pull the plugs. My jeep was on its lid for almost 45 min and it started right up with only a big puff of smoke.

Check all yoru Control arms and other parts to make sure its safe to continue. recheck that you got up all the spills and put down peatsorb. carry on or roll again.

Remove the coil wire from the distributor cap... try to turn over one cylinder at a time them if it sounds ok turn them all over...reconnect coil wire and away you go.

If the engine wont turn...then you'll need to remove all the plugs...remember the lead order :D

Here is the system I use--Immediately following the flop:

1. Turn off ignition.

2. Make sure everyone is okay. If not, call 911.

3. Keep spectators back at a safe distance, and not downhill from the vehicle.

4. Determine whether vehicle will stay put as is. If it is in a precarious situation, or in some other way likely to move, secure it with straps or winch line before you do anything else.

5. Once secured, inspect the vehicle carefully so you know what you are confronting. As mentioned, broken control arms are common--also inspect brake lines, tie rods, wheels.

6. During the uprighting process, make sure to keep spectators back. This means way off to the side, or behind the vehicles, not anywhere within striking distance if the cable should snap at either end. The old trick of laying a blanket over the winch line works, too.

7. Once upright and secure, pop hood and inspect fluid leaks--it is common to need auto tranny fluid. You may also need to remove a fluid soaked air filter--I pull off the whole thing right at the intake manifold, until I can clean the goo out of the whole air intake box. Depending on the severity of the rollover, you may have radiator damage, or even battery or fuse box problems, but these are not common in slow 4x4 trail rollovers.

8. Start her up, and check brakes, steering and tranny function.

9. Clean up all of your leaks and debris. Often, it takes longer to clean up than it does to actually right the Jeep. Do it right. You should always have trash bags, pig pads and/or peatsorb, and at least a folding shovel as part of your basic wheeling kit.

Happy trails!

I too am stumped by this, I am sure it is I am just not understanding it so a clarification would be great. The way I read it, it sounds like you can somehow disconnect it so only one cylinder at a time turns over, and I just don't see how that is possible.

What he means:

Disconnect the coil so that the motor will not start!

Bump the starter thru each cylinder once to make sure there is no oil lock in each cylinder.

If the motor sucsessfully turns all the way thru replace the coil wire and start the motor. It may smoke quite bad for a bit!

If the motor wont sucsessfully turn all the way thru - stop! You have oil lock! Mark and then pull the plug wires and plugs. Turn over the motor several turns, then reconnect and start! It will smoke quite bad for a bit!

hope that helps!

ummm WOW DO NOT DO THAT :D I wish it would have rolled AGAIN! Put it in gear and the brake on if youre on a hill :D

When i flopped at the coves, junky righted the jeep as much as he could with the strap hooked around the frame. I jumped in the jeep and backed out of the spot that caused me to flop with the strap still attached. Didnt check anything before i started it acuse im always game for surprises!!
