WE're just not sure if this is a 77 or 78.

There isn't a door tag or anything and he's not sure where the title is.

I would not say its welded.
I would also say its not cast since its part of the axle tube.
Then it could be a press-fit tube-in-tube or a tube-in-cast assembly.
just my guess...

Picture 14 Shows the 78-79 is not a good candidate for an axle swap, unless you keep the Ford coils. The area between the red arrows does not have a tube in it. The Author cut an axle open and found this out the hard way. Additionally the inner tube was only 1/4" thick from a 79 Bronco that was cut open!
See if this helps (http://77cj.littlekeylime.com/Dana44.htm)
Doesnt look cast at all!

I've looked at all that before Dennis, but on thirtieth look, I think the one I
have pictured is a 77 and NOT CAST, but welded. That picture is of MY
new TJ axle if so. I may be able to get the 9" that went with it.

you don't want that POS...........need a 78-79 F250 if you want a HPD44.......or better yet get a 60:D

He has the title and is looking for it, but I was just curious as the 78/79 are
basically worthless with the cast C's.

This one is 5 on 5 1/2 with auto locking hubs, so I assume its an F150. Dennis,
did you shorten both tubes or just the long side? And how much did you
shorten them?

as far as im aware it was only the long side. They use stock waggy shafts. Ill have to ask Brian for specific numbers on the cuts

I have a ton of parts from my Waggy LP 44 I was thinking about building. I have
chevy, ford and Waggy hubs and knuckles, rotors and various other parts too,
including flat top knuckles. Now I got a Ford HP. Just need to figure out how
I'm gonna put it all together. Of course, I'll eventually sell the maxed out D30.

i am wondering if you will have enough room on the drivers side to mount your coil bucket to fit your frame? have you taken the measurements?

I don't think that will be a problem. On the Waggy axle I have, it is somewhat
of a problem, but I don't think so on the Ford.

Those are welded wedges. Taking the F-150 axles to waggy width requires both sides to be cut.
