OK all, I think we'll need a "discovery run" first to see if we can get some
info like the vin # or something to identify the vehicle. We'll need to find
out if it is stolen or what. Probably won't happen this weekend since I have
in-laws in town. Probably the weekend after this one.
BTW - I sent the original email twice. i thought the list ate this one so I
resent it. Sorry about that.

Hello flyboy,
Why don't you do the brakes yourself? I'm sure that someone in the club
(here's where I raise my onetime volunteer hand) will give you a hand
putting new brakes on your jeep. If you do it yourself the cost is about one
quarter of that if you hire it out, and brakes are easy....

Lots of questions....I'll answer briefly.
1) I'd go with stock Wrangler's rears all around. Depending on what tire
you want to run, look to do fender trimming to clear them. If you still need
more room, take another set of stock Wrangler's, cut the main leaf eyelettes
off and use it as the 2nd leaf in your pack. This will net you about 1-2" of
additional height and still flex like crazy. I've found this works really
well for me.
2) Rears all around. Definately.
3) You may have to move it around. I found on CJ7's that I had to move them
just slightly to clear the spring plate when the suspension really flexed
out. Try it and see.
4) You'll need to do a bent drag link ("S" shaped). ORrrrrrr You can
anti-up some money and purchase MORE's high clearance steering setup for YJ
D30's. This is a GREAT setup to solve your steering problems with SOA.
Unfortunately it is not available for CJ's, but perfect for YJ's.
5) Either make your own or purchase one. I can't remember the name of the
place that makes one for sale, but it runs about $300. I'm sure someone on
the list will help me out.
Found an interesting site you might want to check out:
http://jeepskate.4x4.org/SOA.htm
There is lots of stuff on the web. Just do searches on SOA YJ and lots of
things should pop up.
Good luck..

I use them in the custom steering systems that I design. I spend a bit more
because my systems are designed to be 4 times stronger the a stock jeep. I
use the Maxi joints they are rated for 48klb force. I also use the 3/4" set.
The system comes with connecting rod and tie rod made out of solid cold
rolled steel. Stay away from the cheep ones as they are not as strong as
your original rod ends.
I have made these for Jeeps, old Broncos and full size Fords.

I'm thinking the only sensitive part of the trail is along the creek
under the trees. We wouldn't want to drag anything through there.
But can you tow a trailer through there? If so, I think a flatbead
trailer would be the best bet.

she looks around nervously to see if anyone has noticed her little

"Good day, Madame. How may we help you today?"
Very uncomfortably she asks, "Sir, what is the price of this lovely

He answers, "Madame, if you farted just touching it, you are going to

I've got Thursday off and since Martinez Canyon basicly in my
backyard (I live in Florence) I'll make the trip out there tommarow
and see if I can gather some "intel". I check for the VIN or any
other distinguishing feature. Dose anyone out there know where on the
frame a Toyota P/U Vin may be found? Chances ae the dash mounted tag
is gone. I'll also try to estimate what it will take to get it out of
the canyon.

But can you tow a trailer through there? If so, I think a flatbead

Chances ae the dash mounted tag
is gone. I'll also try to estimate what it will take to get it out of
the canyon.
