We will go 4 wheeling as wanted, I have ideas for a couple runs then we can just mess around in the desert. Hiking/Exploring is definately an option!!! No water or electricity hookups... There are also just runs we can do without having to go into 4 wheel drive. Should be an easy weekend. Can definately do a lot of SAND!!! Probably 2.5 trail rating max. Yup, I agree. You'ld really be buzzing down the freeway with 4.88's. I was
running the 4.56's (still have 'em) back when I had 33's and it's great. If
you go to a larger tire at some point like Stu, and many of us have, you may
be better off, at that time, doing a 4:1, instead of gearing the diff
deeper. That way you'ld get great off road performance and not be buzzing on
road ;)
Cheers,

Subject: Re: Suggestions/pointers on mounting lights
Mike,
I just recently mounted some lights to the windshield brackets/hinges
on my '98 TJ. I removed the cover to the wiper motors the one between the
hood and windshield frame. I found I could run the wires behind each hinge
and then thru a split in the weather striping into the area that houses the
wiper motor. I also nicely wrapped the wires coming from each light with
electrical tape for protection and to keep them as small as possible. This
method required absolutely no cutting or drilling to the exterior body
panels.
From there I did drill a small hole from the wiper motor area into the
engine compartment. I don't remember the size. What I did was go to Radio
Shack and got an assorted pack of rubber grommets and then pick the one that
was just big enough for the wires eyeballed it for the right drill bit. I
could then proceed to connect to the battery and mount the relay inside the
engine compartment.
To gain access to the inside for the light switch I found there was
two rubber plugs towards the drivers side of the firewall. I made a small cut
in one of the plugs drilled a hole in the dash for the switch (this obviously
required some disassembly of the dash) and I was good to go.
This was done on a '98 TJ 2.5L, manual tranny, NO A/C (this may be why
I had the two rubber plugs in the firewall, I really don't know). The lights
were Hella model 500 driving lights and they came with all the wires, switch
and relay that I needed. Although I did need one "snap" type wire splicers to
tap in to the high beam circuit so my lights only work when the high beams
are on. I am not the one to advise you on wiring but I did use the supplied
Hella instructions together with a Haynes service manuel. Hella sells this
wiring kit seperately if yours did not come with any.

Well I am opening up a big bag of worms here but her it goes anyway. The Arizona Dust Devils is a small organized club and small clubs seem to be more family like. The Arizona Virtual Jeep Club is not a club it is more of a forum and a very large one at that. In large forums you get what I call the keyboard warrior. That is people that do not care to help and seem to get a kick out of there keyboard heroics by flaming others. I could go on about this but I think you get the idea. There are many in the AZVJC that are very much willing to help and to those this email is not intended for. When you have a large forum like the AZVJC you will always have some bad apples that can bring down the image of the forum.
Mike the best advice I can give you is to treat responses like what you received as tongue and cheek. Just consider the source and blow it off.

I would like to relay some statistics. Last night I sent a simple post to the AZVJC (Un-Organized) and to the Arizona Dust Devils (organized) forums requesting input on axles for the front Dana 30 on my CJ. Thru 2 pm today I have received ONE reply from the 1000+ AZVJC members and it was a smartass/comedic comment telling me to buy a Dana 60. From the Arizona Dust Devils 27 members I have received 4 responses with suggestions, personal experiences or questions, but no smart ***/comedic remarks. I got the same type of statistical response when I have asked other questions. Is the problem that I have a CJ and of the 1000 or so members of THE AZVJC there are very few CJ's . Or are my questions to stupid to warrant an intelligent response. This may be just an anomaly, but I am starting to get a complex. Just curios if anyone else experiences this kind of thing. Based on these statistics I would conclude that organized is better than un-organized.

My local radio club here in the Heber/Overgaard area has it's mile of highway on state route 260 to keep clean, (Rim Country Amateur Radio Club Sponsorship). We usually do this three or four times a year.
Anyway, Of all the beer cans and bottles we pick up on every trip, it seems that Bud Light is America's favorite beer to drink and then throw the empty out the window. Consistently over the last 3 years, 90 to 98% of beer cans/bottles we pick up are Bud Light. As you drive down the trail, and pick up the empties you see, I would suspect that Bud Light is the hands down favorite or does drinking Bud Light make you stupid?

Hello,
My name if Michael Anello, and I run "mike's totally free jeep news" - one
of the most popular Jeep News sites on the web (we have over 16,000
registered users). Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I've recently
added a cool feature to "mike's totally free jeep news" that you might find
useful - a free "Jeep News Headlines" box that you can put on your site. The
"Jeep News Headlines" box is automatically updated with the two most recent
news stories each time my site is updated. It is easy to install (the entire
code is 2 line long) and once it is installed on your site, no maintenance
is ever required.
You can check out the "Jeep News Headlines" box at:

If you're interested, drop me a line and I'll send you the code!

A spool ties both axels together hard. The is no slippage like a limited
slip and it does not unlock by sensing speed like a Detroit or lock right.
It is very simple with no moving parts and is locked all the time. It is not
advisable for use on the street.
