An approximately one year old intact male border
collie (would make a perfect jeep dog) needs a home.
He was found in Queen Creek a few weeks ago and hasn't
been claimed. He is a beautiful dog, black and white
with a split face and well proportioned. He is very
affectionate, playful and easy to train. He has
gotton along perfectly with every one and dog he has
met (he doesn't appear to like cats but that can be
trained out of him).
We're not sure if he's house broken, but with a border
collie that's not too hard.
For questions or pictures please email me off the list.

It seems ridiculous to me that they would try to tax people with low gas
milage (such as myself!) an additional amount! Don't they realize that we
are already paying much more for gas (and taxes) each and every time we fill
up?

Mike,
I like the second option. You do enough hard work for the AZVJC and
shouldn't have to be chasing down someone else's money or forms. Its time
for people to be responsible for themselves and not burden others if they
are too lazy.

Subject: Re: Organization - a rare posting from a legal minded lurker
In all this discussion, I can't believe no one raised the subject of
CORPORATE TAXES!
Incorporating even as a non-profit doesn't mean the resposible parties won't
have to pay taxes.
That status can only be given by the IRS in Dallas (I've done it) under
501(c)3 of the tax code
as a tax EXEMPT organization. The upside of this is that any donations of
time, materials, space,
or equipment for the group becomes tax deductable! If you do incorporate,
you still will be required
to file an annual report to the Corporation Commision for a nominal fee ($10
when I was doing it).
Regarding copyright ownership, under the latest interpretation of the fair
use doctrine, copyright
ownership remains with the author. Presumably this extends to names also,
especially registered ones.
Of course, corporate identity theft is a civil matter, but that does not
imply it is without consequences.
At the very least it shows a total lack of respect for the efforts of those
who went before, and a
complete lack of imagination.
So now there is a new rule about having to own a Jeep? This must have snuck
up on me when I wasn't
looking, and I've been around almost as long as the list (here since '85).
That's too bad, since I have a black
4Runner stick proudly displaying the Az_vjc sticker, Free Tibet, NRA,
Protect Freedom, Skull & Lightning,
ABOTMA stickers on my tailgate. What am I going to do now with my standard
trail joke of having the only
real "virtual" Jeep out there?
While I'm all for debate and discussion of issues, this list presents an
opportunity for this. What it should not
become, I believe, is a time intensive advertisement for someone's stated
personal agenda. FYI, my radar
detector came on at the mention of "one stop shopping", "PayPal", and
"ASA4WDC". Caveat Emptor.

At one point early in the club's history, the issue of liability came up. I
drafted and circulated a disclaimer, but the group opted, at that time, to
forgo it. I still think it's a good idea. I'll see if I can find it.

I agree. I'll see if I can find the original draft. The concept at that time
was to click a button to join, while at the same time accepting the
disclaimer. It went something like "You are responsible for your rig and
your own actions. Wheeling involves risks, and by joining AzVJC, you
acknowledge and accept sole responsibility for your vehicle, it's contents,
and it's passengers, including yourself". Or something like that.

A good friend of mine just installed an in-dash MP3 player with a
built-in 20 gig hard drive. It pulls out and you can connect it to your
computer via ethernet or USB to transfer the music. If you like, I can
check on the brand and where he got it and for how much.

Actually, I believe, the rule has always been there, just never
enforced.

A good friend of mine just installed an in-dash MP3 player with a
built-in 20 gig hard drive. It pulls out and you can connect it to your
computer via ethernet or USB to transfer the music. If you like, I can
check on the brand and where he got it and for how much.
