Subject: Wrapping Things Up: The "O" word...
Well the last day has certainly been interesting. I hope that many
of the "lurkers" especially new members have learned something about
ASA4WDC & United memberships and Land Use permits.
I was really hesitant about starting this thread because I knew what
would happen. I was so hesitant that I put it off for almost 2
months. But I said I would offer the suggestion to the club and I
did; hopefully now after all of this discussion, word gets back to
the ASA4WDC that we'll likely NEVER incorporate the AzVJC. My goal
here is to get them to allow us to fill out a form and pay online
(for those wanting to do so). If anyone has any connections at the
ASA4WDC, it would be helpful.
This is what I'd like to see:
1. Allow members of the AzVJC fill out a form online, and pay online
for their ASA4WDC membership. This only benefits both parties, as I'm
sure ASA4WDC could use the additional members.
2. Give the AzVJC some sort of recognition, especially at the
Jamboree. I mean last year I believe (I could be wrong) we had more
people from the AzVJC helping out than any other "organized" club.
And I KNOW that we had more AzVJC members there than any other club.
3. Some sort of special "non-club" status would also be cool, but not
necessary.
I don't think there is anything else we absolutely need. Although I
am somewhat concerned about not having any liability insurance. I can
think of two people that a lawyer would think of to sue, in the event
that something happened and the person it happened to got a lawyer:
1. The Trip Leader
2. The Webmaster
Personally I think it would be wise for us to have our own insurance
policy, since most are not interested in becoming an incorporated
club. But then, that once again requires us to have dues, and if
we're going to have dues, then we have to incorporate, and if we
incorporate why don't we just join the ASA4WDC and use their
insurance. It's a catch-22, damned if you do, damned if you don't
situation. And can you blame me for wanting to make sure my *** is
covered?
So here it is the choices:
1. Leave things as they are.
Benefits: None
Detriments: None
2. Just add a page promoting the ASA4WDC, United and State Land Use
permits.
Benefits: Easier to find, encourages new members to join
Detriments: A little more work for me.
3. Arrange a one-stop shopping online payment system.
Benefits: Even easier to join, encourages new members to join
Detriments: More work for me, and possibly one other volunteer to
process the forms/handle the money.
4. "Partner" with an existing club (like the Az-LowRangers) and
provide an online method to join this existing club.
Benefits: Easy to join
Detriments: Still need "Family" State Land Use Permit, must "Partner"
with another club, Still need a volunteer to handle the forms/money.
5. "Incorporate" an AzVJC shadow club, but don't join the ASA4WDC,
have "Family" State Land Use Permits and Liability Insurance as part
of the dues.
Benefits: Easy for AzVJC members to join/pay online, Liability
Insurance.
Detriments: "Organization." How much is Liability Insurance going to
cost? Still need volunteer to handle paperwork/money.
6. "Incorporate" an AzVJC shadow club, join the ASA4WDC,
have "Family" State Land Use Permits as part of the dues.
Benefits: Easy for AzVJC members to join/pay online, We get the
insurance from ASA4WDC. "Treasurer" handles paperwork/money.
Detriments: "Organization"
7. "Incorporate" the AzVJC, require dues from every member. Enforce
the existing rules (Arizona, Jeep), have elections, bylaws, ect...
Benefits: Easy for AzVJC members to join/pay online, We get the
insurance from ASA4WDC. "Treasurer" handles paperwork/money.
Detriments: "Real Organization" + we just became what most of us
don't want.
There's the options as I see them folks. If you have an opinion
about one or the other, voice it. Provide the reasons you support it
or don't support it. I think it is safe to say that probably no one
here wants #7, so you can just ignore that one.

Mike,
I think that the AZVJC has grown so big and is making enough of a
contribution to our sport that we are starting to gain the recognition
we deserve. Even the ASA4WDC has started asking for our involvement
in various "causes". The way I see it, this will only continue. And
it will do so without us having to change anything. The more we attend
land-use meetings, do clean-ups, volunteer for the Jamboree, etc., the
more we will earn the attention and respect we deserve. We needn't do
anything more. This is not to say we shouldn't continue to encourage
people to join ASA4WDC, United, etc. In fact, we *must* continue to
encourage this.
In the end, we will be judged by our actions.

I think it is safe to say that probably no one
here wants #7, so you can just ignore that one.

support it. I think it is safe to say that probably no one here wants
#7, so you can just ignore that one.

I'd think a disclaimer or terms and conditions of membership should be
posted on the site and becoming a member would be "accepting " those terms
and conditions/disclaimer.

Mike,
I think that the AZVJC has grown so big and is making enough of a
contribution to our sport that we are starting to gain the recognition
