You, me, Joe W, and David W included.

LOL

I better take some pills now. My fingers are sore and I've stirred up
enough BS for one night. I wonder why the wife hasn't come and told me
that my daily playtime is over yet? Wait til she sees what I've done,
I'll be in big trouble for sure.

MIke,
I run with a organized club. I've seen both sides of this. Believe me, i
agree with some of the people, organazation creates alot of BS in itself. Add
the egos, etc, etc, and you start to wonder why the hell you joined a club in
the first place.

On the other hand, if it were not for the organized club members on this
list, I think alot of the issues that deal with land clousures, state land
permits, etc, would go unnoticed. I see alot of posts to this site, from
organized club members, informing the list about all the stuf going on. So, I
think each view on this issue has a good points, and bad points.

I've been to some of the BLM (Buera of Lumber and Mines) meetings and heard
some of the dumbest **** come out of blms mouth. They actually used the
criteria of grass growing between the tire trails as proof that the trail is
unused. Had it not been for organized clubs being present at these meetings,
they might have gotten away with it.

The state land permit is another issue. In my view, they just want people to
call this lady to inform her of trips going out on state land so they can
keep track fo how many people use these trails and who they are. Then when
the trail gets screwed up, they have some group to blame.. Just my 2 cents.

And this land use permit, whether you buy it individual or through the club
dues, only covers you (family if you buy iut individually), so if you have a
passenger witth you, he better have his own. I've heard the state, in the
next few years, is going to go as far as to try and confiscate vehicles. May
be off the wall, but the writing is there.

Organazation gives you number in force. If people don't belive it, just look
at what the eco warriors are doing.
Keep up the good work, and keep shaking the coals.

recommended other members to see someone in the east valley for the
repairs. I need to know where that place is.

If that is so why would you want to limit yourself by being a "real
club"? I am new to wheeling and love az vjc just the way it is,
I've meet a couple people to go wheeling with and have gotten info
that has helped me work on my jeep. I have every intention of
joining asa4wdc as I know the importance of suporting those that
fight for your right to recreation. I'm also a rock climber hunter
and fly fisher man and all of these pursuits have varring acess
issues so this is not an isolated problem. I feel that az vjc
serves it's purpose as a meeting place and a place to exchange ideas
perfectly and asa4wdc ,at least in the eyes of a newcomer, serves
it's purpose to educate and to protect our privlage to use land for
recreational pursuits.Thats my two cents leave it the way it is and
please suport an orginization that is dedicated to fighting for land
use.

Subject: Mike C. - Personal memberships being discontinued

Mike,

You had mentioned in one of your post about ASA4WDC thinking about
discontinuing individual memberships.

This would be a serious marketing plunder. By this I mean it would alienate
people and more importantly funds away from ASA4WDC. Let's take for example
a freesbie, no one needs one but, they are kind of cool to have and other
people have them. Well now, if the only way to get a freesbie is to join a
club, how many people do you think would have a freesbie? If you continue on
up the line, if you had to belong to a club to get a freesbie and a
companies only income was from freesbie sales, what size do you think that
company would be?

We want, no we need a bigger company. So back to the original statement,
discontinuing personal membership would be a severe determent to our sport.

I know you did not make the statement you were just the messenger. I think
if someone were to say to me what you were told, I would tell them they need
to re-think their position for the good of all.

Joe,
I might be interested. Just so I know you are prepared. Are you keeping
a spare propeller, rudder, ailerons or extra landing gear. How about
some gerry cans for gas? I think if your are going to have any
passengers you will have to put a safari rack on top for your tools to
make room inside. I am sure you have onboard air already so you can run
the air tools to do any necessary in-flight repairs. ROTFLMAO!!!

Clay,

Thanks for the input. Although, I haven't read 1/2 the post I know
your input was a good thing.

Please, when you go back to your club(s) and tell them there are
people at AzVJC that care. Check the ASA4WDC registration the number
of members may improve. What a pleasent surprise. Hats off to you if
they do.

Hope to meet you on the trail sometime. Until then, dumpadeeda,
dumpadeeda, dumpadeeda, dumpadeeda, Happy Trails to You.

My official vote is a strong "NO" ... N.... O....

I may be speaking out of turn being that I've only joined within the past
month or two, but was really amazed with this site. DON'T RUIN A GOOD
THING!!!

If one site is being paid for and the other is not...hmm... gee... i wonder...
ONE IS OBVIOUSLY GOING TO BE LEFT UNATTENDED!!!

You say we can make this easy and use PayPal... well, what about the people
that don't pay anything over the Internet. I made one exception myself, and
bought the club stickers, but that will be my first and last purchase over
the Internet.

If you want an organized club, do it completely separate from this one -
ABSOLUTELY NO LINK TO THIS ONE... YOU HAVE A "PERFECT" CLUB ALREADY!!!

Hello All,

Gary Oglesby is leading an Unspecified trail run on Friday, March 22, 2002.

When: Meet @ 10am

Can meet later if needed!!! Can also meet you Saturday if you can't leave work in time...
Where: Ajo, Arizona

Meet @ Dairy Queen on Highway 85
Rating: None
Length: 2nights-Camping
CB Channel: 5

Let's have a weekend of camping and 4 wheeling. Should be great weather before it gets too hot!!! Friday and Saturday night we'll camp... We will go 4 wheeling as wanted, I have ideas for a couple runs then we can just mess around in the desert. Hiking/Exploring is definately an option!!! No water or electricity hookups... There are also just runs we can do without having to go into 4 wheel drive. Should be an easy weekend. Can definately do a lot of SAND!!! Probably 2.5 trail rating max. I'll say Ajo is about 2 hours from Downtown Phoenix...

My number (623) 694-9510. Please respond soon!!!!!!!

I moved to AZ a month ago, and was amazed to find that you still
have so much room to move, I came from the Northwest, where in the
last 10 years I have seen thousands of acres closed to both
recreational use and industry use, between owls, fish or just
unsightly trails, certain groups are just looking for reasons to
close public and even private lands to hunting, fishing and 4
wheeling. You should all feel lucky that you are able to wheel every
weekend because more than likely that won't be the case forever. I
have read all your posts and thank you for the info on how to help
keep these areas open.

Subject: XJ Front wheel hub and wheel bearings??

Hello Gang,
I have noise on my Drivers side wheel hub, and I am pretty sure that the bearing are shot and in need of replacements. My questions to you all are: Is it better to replace the bearing and seals in the original hub, or is it better to buy the hub complete? I know that it would be a whole lot easier to just change out the whole unit = the hub with the bearings and seals installed, but it is much more expensive than just the cost of the bearings and seals alone. I can get the bearings and seals from my local parts store, but I have never changed out a set of bearings and seals on an XJ front end hub, and don't know if it is possible to do it myself. Is it quite a job to do the bearings and seals? I have replaced other vehicles wheel bearings, but not on an XJ four wheel drive axle (front). The hub at Checker and AutoZone runs 143.00 to 149.00, where as the bearings and seals run in the range of 40.00 to 55.00 total. If it is not to hard of a job, I will do it myself, and hopefully save a little money. But, the simplicity of changing out the whole unit (hub with bearings installed), is a big Plus so far as time and ease. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Casper
