I've been wanting to buy one for a while but I haven't been able to part with that much cash. There are a couple of brands out there and they all seem to get great reviews. If you decide to buy one please post up and let us know how it works.

YUP... Have owned one for going on 6 years now...
I use it when traveling/vacationing, when Jeeping iin summer on milder trips... (ALWAYS great to bring along popsisicle and icream bars for the kids and us "old farts" :D ), and I use it for long weekends and week long Lake Powell Boating trips, to keep me from having to continually run back to a Marina (can be up to 50 miles awy on Powell) for ice.
I LOVE mine for uses where i'm gonna be out for more than just a day trip... for day-tips use, it's a bit of a pain, and cetianly a bit of over-kill, as where it shines, is in it's ability to outlast ice in a cooler... buy a BUNCH... :D :D :D ;)
BUT, if you are only looking at one for a day-trip use, IMHO, it's more than a tad pricey... If you are like me, and do quite a few extended trips, where you're away from the ability to readily get more ice, they are GREAT...
The only downside in a Jeep is the amont of room they take up, but if you don't have or use the back seat anyway, they work REAL nice...
PS: they can infact make ice, so you got to be careful of your settings, or else you'll find soda cans exploded all over the place. :p ...;)
PS PS: They are marketed under the ARB name, but they are simply nothing more than Engles, and are made for ARB for Engle. SO... you MAY be able to find a slightly better pricing, if you keep your eyes open...;)

After you find out the price .. the ice chest will work just fine .....
I checked on an Engel ...... great product, but far, far down on the list of wants ..

I too have always wanted one but can't get over the price tag. Yeah they may be worth the price but it's hard to justify one when other things are breaking faster than you can fix them. :) But yeah, on extended trips.
The one thing I was thinking with the ARB fridges (ob1jeeper) is how distracting is it having your frosty beverages rolling around in there? With ice it suspends your cans a bit but with a fridge they'd be rolling around and shaken up?

N Ice Chest ;)
FWIW-Engle=ARB Engle makes the ARB and they are both good products. I hear nothing but good things about them from the Rover crowd;) .... If you have the money, they are great. I used one for my hunting trailer prior to getting an old Dometic-propane lasts longer than 12v.
Uhhh-if I read all of the above posts I would have realized that you all already knew that.... disregard my repost thanks
