Got this from AEV, the new site is up and again this points to a new JK brute pickup in the future of the Jeep brand.

2003
Jeep is so enamored with the Brute, that they ship it to Detroit and see if its feasible to produce. The original red Brute has been down the Plymouth Prowler assembly line to make sure it would fit and ASC was charged with building the Brute. Everything looked like the public would be offered the Brute as a 2004 model until one executive at DaimlerChrysler couldn’t see the difference between the Brute and the “Scrambler” (a new version) they had been working on that was intended to be released at the same time the Unlimited was. The executive in question was later fired, however the damage had been done and there wouldn’t be enough time to recoup the setup costs by the time the TJ was scheduled to end production in 2006.

AEV starts to produce many more conversion vehicles and business is going well with the aftermarket parts. AEV’s first wheel, the 16” Bridger is introduced towards the end of the year. Dave finally buys a house and moves out of the shop.

The guys start work on putting DaimlerChrysler’s new 5.7L V8 into Wranglers. While not traditionally an engine shop, Dave decides that they’ll do the most factory looking, factory reliable V8 swap anyone has ever seen. The 570 Wrangler debuts at the SEMA show in 2003. It took the guys about a month to get the conversion working at 99%, the final one percent would take another six months while Jordan taught himself electronics and how to come build a computer that could turn the AC on properly and operate the cruise control on the 5.7.
