hey there. Latley I've been looking around for a TJ in the auto trader and can't seem to make up my mind if I want to buy one with a lift already installed or not. Or should I not even buy a tj and just start cutting my yj to bits. If I do decide to purchase the tj.. it will be a daily driver
someone make up my mind for me.. I want to go wheelin

Buy a small car to use as a DD and wheel the YJ.

You'll thank yourself in the long run by not wheeling your DD. I'll agree with that. I think I'd try alot more things offroad if I didn't have to worry about my Jeep still getting me to work on Monday. I vote for a cheap DD and start cutting the YJ to bits.

You can buy a TJ, lift it and use it as your daily driver when it's not broke... sell the YJ and with the money buy a early nineties Nissan pickup as your daily driver. They're relatively cheap, have super cold A/C, and are reliable (and simple to repair if need be).
I currently wheel my TJ and it's my daily driver. However, I also have a truck in case the TJ isn't driveable come Monday morning. You can wheel your DD as long as you have an alternate set of wheels just in case. After all, the definition of a DD is typically transportation to get you to work the next day...if you have a plan B, your bases are covered.
I tweaked a lower control arm bracket the other day. It's not going anywhere at the moment so I'm still driving the Jeep (well, not really today as I had to bring my toy hauler back to storage, but I would have taken the Jeep). Tomorrow I'm planning on cutting off the old bracket and prepping it for the new one. It will spend Thursday night and Friday night on jackstands and on Saturday morning I'll weld on the new bracket. This down time isn't a big deal since I can still get to work.
