Will that thing let me tow a small utlity trailer with camping gear in it, or only to be used for pulling Hummer's out of trouble?

I think it looks odd because of the way the picture was taken. It is from the back and the bumper is angled.

I don't think any thing would come out of the shop as a recall.

Well i was trying to be nice but i have seen the bumpers in the shop and there are throw backs or turn down's becuase the bumpers were built for a customer that turned them down and they look staind like that becuase they have been sand blasted becuase the bumpers had to be fixed and when they tried to repaint the paint cracked. So yes they are recalls in a sence!

I will have Dave take a better picture of the bumper. This picture does not show what it looks like, I have two left.

These are bumpers that have been repaired and sand blasted. These are HD bumpers and are good to go.

I want to come look at it if there is one left, what are the major cross streets.

Take the 60 east to IronWood, head south 1.5 miles make right on Huston. Take Huston 1.75 miles to Pinal, make left on Pinal.. 3rd driveway in back set of buildings!!

Looks like it would be difficult to fab a tire carrier onto, could you add a brace to be able to mount one?

AZXJ

Yes we could modify it..

I picked one up and just mounted it. It took a while since every bolt was rusty and had to cut most of them off. Never buy a jeep from the snow country. Fabbed it up and painted it just to see how it would fit.. I'll try to get a picture posted asap. Mounted right up no problems. Not the prettiest but he said they are seconds hence the low price. Heck for that price I might put one on the front :)

In 2 weeks it will be all banged up and the paint chipping off so what do I care if it has a couple defects. Worst thing I see is a couple not so pretty welds, other than that it is just fine. Thanks for setting me up Dave, I'm happy.

Is the tire off center, or the receiver?

Fire Ball
02-20-2007, 02:40 PM
Tire is off center mounted on the factory mount and puts it about 2" to the right. I did put a tape to the receiver and found it to be 1" off center as well. I'll take it out and smack against a rock real hard and fix that :)

I had to cut all the bolts off because they were rusty so I need to get some new ones. It is on with just regular bolts to see how it was going to fit. As soon as I get the bolts I'll start working on a tire carrier for it.

Looks great with paint on it.. Yes they weren't up to our high standards..
That's the reason for them being on the Cheap!!! Here's one without paint being held up... yes it's held up krooked...

Put a second coat of paint on it and dug up some #8 bolts I had laying around. Solid as can be now. As soon as I can get all the parts together I'll start building a tire arrier and I'll post more pics.

Well thanks a lot Dave, now you've got me thinking about this whole axle thing and you are probably going to be responsible for ending 22+ years of marriage. I"m gonna have to start squirreling away my pennies and we will have to keep her out of the loop :) You take cash right?

That is just a scratch. I'll do better :)

Hows thing's? You get work straightened out yet?

Dave and I were discussing the pros and cons of doing a D35 rebuild v.s. doing a D44 swap. I think I have to get a paper route.

Dude, just look for a Exploder 8.8.... Keep your eyes open of 1/2 price "u pull it" days and get one cheap then have DesertFab do all the work.

Well at least price the 8.8 option. I love mine. :D

EDIT: Work is straightened out and guess what, I'm pulled off line for a meeting tomorrow... for another FA. I've been good for the last few days now. ;)

AZXJ

8.8 is a viable option... Hard to come by 35 spline shafts for the 8.8though. :D

I will not lead to the delinquency of said individuals not staying happliy married... Buy her some roses and trear her like a princess.. She'll give in.. :D

I bought her a rose yesterday, and always treat her like a princess. I have a woman that no man deserves let alone me! I'll hold on to her as long as I can.

Went out wheeling to day and banged up the new bumper pretty good. Kept my gas tank from getting smashed and banged a corner of it pretty hard. No bends, no dents. NICE
