Is there going to be a Meet and Greet, East Valley any time soon? I'm still pretty new to the community, and would like to meat some more people that like to hit the trails.

thanks, J.

Tuesday 13th at 6:00pm till??? In-and-Out burger at Williamsfield and Market St. (1/4 mile from Greenfield Rd.) Large parking lots all around the place due to the shopping plazas around it.

Hope you can make it.

It all depends on who you wheel with!
I try to get the kids out of the house every Saturday, so if your up for something let me know!
By the way, how old are you kids and what mods are you running on your jeep?
My kids are 11,5, & 3. Its always nice to have other kids on the trail, the little ones tend to enjoy it more.

I think a meet and greet is in order for the e.v. Im in aj so anywhere is far for me!!! As for vjc not being family oriented i bring my 4 year old son and every time i run a trail with vjc every body is nice to me and him! Any time you want to hit some trails and take the kids let me know ill bring my boy! Other than that ill keep looking at the thread to see if any agreement has been made on the location and time!

Someone posted on the Yahoo list something about it being time for another Sonic M&G soon. We have them at the Sonic on Country Club/Gilbert Rd every so often and usually get 50+ rigs to show up, but any location will do.

Usually the organizer will confirm with the owner so he's aware and can have enough staff on hand to handle the extra business that night.
Pick a location, give them a call, pick a night and post it up!

on another note. I spoke to some people, "not in the VJC" but another 4x4 club. They said that the VJC group isn't very family orientated. The reason I bring this up, I have 2 kids that like to go 4wheelin.

J.

It's probably all relative.

Some guys we met this weekend said we (our group) must be the Actual Jeep Club, because (he says) the VJC never wheels. My point is, everyone is going to have a different impression of the group.

My daughter is too young to wheel, but will be out there eventually. Some runs are more kid friendly than others, usually the tamer ones are more kid friendly than the harder ones (pro-tip - kids get bored when everyones trying to fix broken parts). Take Scully up on his offer, great guys to wheel with.

It's useful information to pass along if you are bringing the kiddies along, just so no one else is surprised. ;)

I am relatively new here and the only meet I've gone to was the FJ debate thing. Not really a M&G I dont think, the fiancée and I felt a bit awkward not knowing anyone (except for matt, sup buddy:) ) I would totally be up for this sometime, keep us updated when it'll be and I'll try to make it.

BTW that stuff about VJC being non-family friendly is BS. I've been out on several runs so far and every one has kids with them.

I'm always up for something on the east side, I like terrorizing people with my CB PA speaker. IF I'm in town.

On a side note, I have an extremely short memory. When is the annual Crown King run? Even though it's nearly paved. Bleh!

I found a spot in front of the engine, before the bumper. Tucked up pretty nice, won't hit the fan belt, won't get taken off by a rock. It's survived so far, and not tucked away so bad as to affect it's ability to annoy people! :)

I tried calling the Gilbert Sonic and the number is no good. I called the one near me (Williams-Field and Val Vista and they said all the store managers are in Vegas for a district meeting (gambling/golf) but will be back Friday. She said her manager is also open to car show/meet and greet activities so if necessary we can use them instead of the Country Club location. They're only 1/2 mile off the 202 (Santan Freeway).

I'll try again this weekend/next week after the gambling/golf...er....district meetings are over :)

Washington_XJ
02-21-2007, 11:41 AM
How about we do both.
Matt, that location looks perfect for me, although mapquest can find the sonic there  What day did you plan to have it or should we just start putting up dates and voting?

k7mto
02-21-2007, 11:58 AM
As mentioned I think it first requires coordinating with the location - we don't want to just show up with 50-60 rigs without them expecting us. At the Sonic we normally use, the manager usually picks a day which is slow for him (usually mid week) and will add a few extra staff to handle all of the food orders we provide. Eating there isn't required but it's a courtesy for them letting us use their lot and most of us do. They help us/we help them.

So before we start posting dates, we need to pick a location and confirm it with the business. Since all the Sonic managers are out of town, I'm waiting for Monday - if anyone can plan something sooner, I'm fine with that.

Hey now that's a thought, a chance to get back at some of my noisy neighbors. Fill the cul de sac with jeeps. WE could park in one guys yard but we would probably have to put the vehicles on blocks to make it look like they belong there. Can't believe I'm actually thinking about this! My wife would kill me

Haha, I lived at those Apartments right next to that Sonic @ Southern & Val Vista. They always leave the music on at night and you can hear it in the apartments. Kinda funny.

That Sonic might not be a bad choice, as the CVS/Walgreens or whatever it is closed down next door, plenty of overflow parking.

It got a bit crowded at the DQ meet awhile back. That one was up on Recker and McKellips or something like that. Was definitely fun, maybe I'll know a few more people as well.

Maybe I can bring some newbs/ neighbors. I pass this XJ ALL the time in my neighborhood, looks like he's built just like me (my Jeep I mean, you perves!), plus this Toyota dude sports AZVJC stickers and is ALWAYS in his driveway welding. I need to stop in these fellas place sometime and say "Hey".

James

P.S. I'm at Higley & Southern in case you're one of my neighbors!

The In-and-Out burger just opened at Williamsfield and Market St. (1/4 mile from Greenfield Rd.) Large parking lots all around the place due to the shopping plazas around it. If everyone wants In-and-Out I will set it up. I work in Gilbert and could arrange it. Weekend or weekday? I am off weekdays (m-t-w) but would still arrage it for the weekend if everyone wants it on the weekend.

What do you think?

03-05-2007, 09:00 PM
Typically, weeknights are best for the establishment as it helps them on their slow days. Plus folks usually have other things going on on weekends (like wheeling).

Set it up and post the date!

This is actually a backwards approach. It's best to work out the date/time with the location, then post it here.

I tried to call In-N-Out but their numbers are unlisted. I called corporate who said they aren't allowed to give them out so someone will need to visit the location and talk to the manager in person. I'm close, so I can do it after work - or possibly during lunch today.

For those who need directions...

Williams Field Rd (aka Chandler Blvd) & Market Street (between Santan Village Pkwy (formerly Greenfield Rd.) and Santan Freeway (202)). Right (south) on Market St. and left into parking lot at In-n-Out Burger.

If using the Santan (202), get off at Williams Field Rd heading west, then left (south) on Market St. and left into parking lot.

i know I was one of the instagators for this and then didn't show up and I m sorry but a friends Jeep developed a serious oil leak and I went to help fix it. Turns out it needed an oil pan gasket....yea, always a "fun" task.....

When I got there at 7 pm, there were about 30 rigs! Talked to a bunch of folks but probably less than half of the crowd. Great group of wheelers on the East side, made it worth the 100 mile round trip from Goodyear. And I got $50 for my drive shaft! Hey Benny, thanks for the dinner. :)

It was a good turnout. Thanks for setting it up. Of corse the R.O.C. guys had to stack, but they did it away from the crowd. I guess the Wal-Mart parkign lot was getting full. :D

No problem, it's the least I could do since you made the drive. Great turn out.
