DANA Transmissions

I own a CJ5 1973 with a DANA Transmissions. On one site of the transmissions it has some numbers. Can some one tell me what they mean?

As long as it has not been molested, one of the gear boxes is indeed a Dana, but that is not the transmission.

Again, if not molested with, the tranny will most likely be a Borg Warner T-15, and the Dana part you're referring to is the transfer case... It is the gear box that has the drive shafts attached to it... Most likely a model 20, but I suppose it's possible someone has slipped something else in it, like model 18 or 300, but that would also llikely mean a different tranny...

transmission could / should be (all Borg-Warner)

a: T14 '72-75 3speed used with 232 and 258 8.75" long case, top shifter and 1.125" dia input gear 3.1, 1.61,1:1 ratios, 3.1:1 reverse

b: T15 '72-75(heavy duty option with I6, standard with 304) 9.625" long case; 2.99,1.83, 1: ratios 2.99: 1 reverse

c: T18 72-75 4 speed option; 11.875" case ; 4.02,2.4 , 1.41, 1:1 gears; 4.73:1 reverse, adapters front and rear

Am running a 360 ci AMC 8V 1973 JEEP four speed Granny LOW.

What does this mean - Dania 44 rear LOCKEd, Dania 30 front Limited slip?

I would love to install a NV400 Tranny but I don't thing I have the space for it?

Your correct, a CJ5 is a little on the short side for a NV4500... Rear driveshaft becomes pretty darn short...

And if you have a lift, oh boy good vibrations...:eek:

Yes It's lift 30" I do have some vibrations.

Finaly I found the model of Tranny that I have T18-1B. How can I find th spec on the T18?

The tranfer case is showing model C18-15-24-5. What's the gear spec's?

The driveshft is only 18" very short.

I would like to replace the tranny but what would fix?
