What a great way to look at things! I can pretend that I didn't pay it off
and then just buy upgrades with the payment!
Great Idea John!

Hi All

I am planning on flushing my radiator (in my 95 XJ) since at the end of last summer it was running a little warm. I was considering adding a product called Water Wetter to the antifreeze when I refill it. I have heard it is supposed to help the engine run cooler.

Has anyone used it and do you where I can find it?

TIA

I would think maybe a warped intake manifold? (or a loose bolt on it) As
the engine heats up, it causes a vacuum leak? Just an idea.

Subject: [az_vjc] High Idle problems

Hey guys,

I'm at my wits end and I need some additional guidance before I head
to a garage.

Here's the situation: As the engine heats up, the idle increases from
apprx 1000 to more than 2000 rpm. It's been having problems with high
idle for awhile, typically running at 1K when in drive and jumping to
1500 in Park or neutral.

This is what I've got: 88XJ, I6, auto, 118K miles

What I've done: removed and cleaned throttle body, and replaced
gasket; replaced TPS, IAC valve and O2 sensor; tuned up (new
plugs/wires/cap and rotor; checked harness for shorts from all
sensors to terminal box at firewall; replaced all vacuum lines; and
I've tested the CTS resistance (~1.5 ohms).

Any suggestions or the name of a decent garage in Tucson.

TIA,
Tim

(I've also posted to AZXJ, sorry if you get the double)

Sorry, was typing just before lunch :)

If the bumper gets hot, and is bouncing around, the connector that he\she
chooses will "pop", or if he\she gets hit in the said bumper. I was
talking to the guys at Praxair, and they said a CO2 tank will "explode" if
it is rattled around enough and gets hot enough.

Anyway, how would he\she fill the bumper?

Great product. Every vehicle I've used it in has experienced a 20
degree drop in coolant temp. Available at Pep Boys for sure,
Autozone may be carrying it now. Some stores have it seasonaly only.

Good thing too, or using that CO2 Fire Extinguisher would be a real
nightmare.

I think he was thinking that the pressure of the CO2 would cause the
bumper to "blow out" not explode as in a ball of fire.

Maybe he meant the pressure. At anyrate, if the bumper did bust, it could be very ugly, much more so than with compressed air, as the liquid CO2 will freeze whatever it gets onto.
The companies that I know of that fill CO2 tanks required "approved" tanks and they have to undergo hydro testing every 5 (I think it's 5) years. I'm pretty sure this is Federal. Lastly, even if you found someplace that would fill it, they may be unable to get the hose to it and all. You'ld need a CO2 type valve on it.

Cheers,
Fred

CO2 is usually at aroun 2000 - 3000psi where air is about 120psi.
You could not make a bumper to handle this. No place would ever fill
it either. All CO2 tanks that are filled by welding shops must be
DOT approved and time rated. I work with CO2 and N2 tanks all day
and this is not something you want to ever try. Your welds need to
be perfect and the design would be impossible to do cheaply. Plus
Gas tanks cant be permenantely mounted to anything. It would be nice
to do if you could though.

Mmmmm, internal pressure in my CO2 tank runs 500 psi ~ 1000- psi, depending out temperature. Air (SCUBA) compressors could be it to 3000 psi or so ;) SCUBA tanks hold compressed air at 3000 psi.

Scuba tanks are also DOT approved in most cases. I am much more
familiar with the C02 tanks we use at work which are around 2800psi.
Even at 1000psi it would be very difficult to make a bumper hold
this. No one would ever fill it for you.

It is good stuff. You can pick it up at Lopers Performance.

Great product. Every vehicle I've used it in has experienced a 20
degree drop in coolant temp. Available at Pep Boys for sure,
Autozone may be carrying it now. Some stores have it seasonaly only.

They all have color envy. Hopefully sometime this year our Jeeps will look
more similar. I'm ditching the ripped white top and getting a black top.

Subject: CO2 Bumper - not a good idea

Thanks for all the input information. This is what I like about the
AZVJC, if you don't know something just ask and you will get all
kinds of help. I guess along with the bumpers I will have to budget
for a CO2 tank system.
Thanks again,
KC
