Subject: Table Mesa Run Plans Nov 21

Looks like we will have a good turnout for the Table Mesa Road trip next
Saturday. So far 9 people (Jeeps actually) are planning to come. If you plan
to come and haven't told me, please shoot me a note.

Here are the details:

Meet at the trailhead at 10 AM Saturday 11/21.

To get to the trailhead, head toward Carefree. Probably take the Cave Creek
Road, Scottsdale Road or Carefree Road depending on where you are coming from.
Either way once you get to Cave Creek, get on Cave Creek Road heading west. Go
past the Desert Mountain Golf Club and in about 2 miles you will come to the
split where the Bartlett Dam Road goes west (right) and the Seven Springs
Road, FR-24 goes north (right). Go right.

FR-24 becomes a well graded dirt road. Go north past the Seven Springs Picnic
area and campgrounds. Stay on FR-24 for 4 or 5 miles to Magazine Spring. There
should be a turnoff that is marked FR-41. We'll meet at the turnoff. If you
have a GPS, the coordinates are 4-18-820 easting and 37-63-310 northing (NAD27
datum).

We'll meet here and air down and disconnect. If you aren't sure what these
terms are, let me know and I'll show you how to do both.

The trail is about 15 miles long and leads us to I-17. We will come out at
Exit 236 just north of New River. Bring a lunch! There should be some
beautiful sites along the way, and we will also pass close by a hill that is
supposed to have ruins on it.

Monitor CB channel 4. I have one spare handheld CB if anyone needs to borrow
it. Just let me know.

Look forward to a good trip and to meeting some new faces!

Hi Dan and all:

Count me in.

I'm bringing Lisa and my 4 year old, so you guys with kids, bring them along
too. We'll be having breakfast at the Jackalope Cafe in Cave Creek at 8:30.
For those who want to join us, the Jackalope is on 6920 E. Cave Creek Rd (on
the West side near the end of Cave Creek's main drag).

See you all at the trail.
Regards,
Eric

When/where's the next trip? Both trucks have been down recently, so I
haven't been keeping up too much on the group's ongoing plans. The
Cherokee's pretty much trustworthy again, so let me know what's on the
agenda

When/where's the next trip?

Dan's organizing a run this Saturday...Table Mesa., at 10a. Class 3. Cheeck his e-mail for directions.

Other ideas for runs in the future, include: Box Canyon/Martinez Canyon/Coke Ovens; Cherry Creek (good overnight); Sycamore Creek to Bartlet Lake.

See ya.

Since you are running the trail east to west, there's another trail that takes off north before you get to pavement. We ran this trail at the Creepy Crawlers 10th Annual Chili Poker Run last weekend.

Here's the directions. If you get a topo of the area, the directions might make a little more sense.

There is a ranch house right before you get to pavement (maybe 1/2-mile). On the right side (north side) of the road there is a large dirt area where you may/may not see trucks with ATV trailers. There is a trail that heads north from there the goes over a pretty steep hill and then meanders all over the place back there. This might be too much for a day trip, but this trail is worthwhile checking out at a later date. It eventually comes out in Black Canyon City. I would rate it at about a 2.5. Stock vehicles can do it, but that steep hill might cause some problems.

Additionally, if you across the I-17 and go right, you will end up in another area with a bunch of meandering trails. There are several very nice ones back in this area, but you'll need a topo map to figure which one is which. The infamous Terminator is in this area. We (boyfriend and I) along with a few friends went to take a look at the trail, but the Aqua Fria was running a little too high.

Have fun! Table Mesa is a very scenic trail. It has a couple of spots that could prove to be a challenge to stock vehicles -- especially if there is water in the washes.

I'll be in Parker for their annual Desert Splash 4x4 event.

I thought you all might get a laugh out of this

Here are the top 10 clues that you might be a Jeeper:

1.A new dent in the sheetmetal actually straightened out a few other dents, or you reckon it adds character.
2.You know a minimum of three 1-800 numbers to aftermarket off-road businesses by heart.
3.You are on a first-name basis with the guys at every local auto parts store.
4.You want to take things apart and rebuild them, even if they are not broken.
5.You have the monetary equivalent of a Mercedes sedan invested, but your vehicle still looks like crap.
6.You consider starting a vehicle five times in any given minute a routine procedure.
7.You own a vehicle that weighs 1000 pounds more than when it came of the assembly line.
8.You look for Jeeps in movies and TV shows and try to identify the model and date of manufacture.
9.You are the type of person who immediately goes "postal" if you sit in a highway traffic jam for more than five minutes, yet you can spend six hours driving a total of one and a half miles and consider it a form of relaxation.
10.You understand a Jeep is a way of life, not just a means of transportation.
