Just to add to the perfusion, Vendors have a monetary gain in mind,
basically predatory in nature. That's OK, nobody is in business to lose
money (Government excepted)but the average Joe (generic term only Joe(s), no
slight intended) is just trying to get along. (dang I talk alot)

Just to make some more noise, let's not take ourselves too seriously, (we
might be mistaken for ARCA) If the intent is to help, who cares? If the
content doesn't interest you, don't read it. I myself am a rational
anarchist. If YOU need rules to keep yourslef out of trouble, OK, I'll look
at them, and if they don't restrict my freedom, I'll tolerate them. (read
ignore) But since I am a basically quiet guy, not looking for trouble, they
really don't affect me. Let's not over-react.......

If it causes some type of disturbance then no its not okay. And
thats what it did, that would be my two cents!

What is often missed in those "starter" 4" kits are a lot of parts that are
needed to make it work well. Things like a dropped pitman arm, sometimes a
t-case drop kit is not included (which in my mind is the WRONG way to go if
you are concerned about driveline vibs), SYE, CV driveshaft, brake lines
front AND rear, etc, etc.
We've found that Rubicon Express lift kits "look" expensive, when really they
are about the same price as the Superlift kits once you include in all of the
things that you need to do it right. RE is sort of a one-stop-shop when you
order kits from there. You get all that you need (except SYE and driveshaft)
in one order to make the kit work right.
That is (of course) my biased opinion. Take it for what it is worth.

I would have to agree with Jay the RE (Rubicon Express) are the most
complete kits for a CJ out there. They even include new spring plates, brake
lines and sway bar discos and greasable shackles. As well as the normal
stuff other kits come with. For the extra 300.00 it is well worth it.

I've found it's impossible to completely jump straight to the end product
and avoid spending extra money along the way by replacing/improving stuff
you've already replaced/improved. I will say this was more true a number
of years ago when wheeling wasn't as popular, there weren't so many after
market parts and there were no forums like this where information and
experiences get shared so much. But, you as a driver also have to evolve.
Most people don't start out thinking they want to immediately go to the
ARCA level. They usually start out wanting to push their envelope a bit
beyond where they're currently at. Once that becomes no biggie, then they
want to push the envelope again.
While this approach does cost more money in the long run, it also allows
you to upgrade your Jeep a little at a time and in a manner that agrees
with your wallet. It also allows you as a driver to better learn your
and your Jeep's limits.
This is my opinion.

I watched Alan do really well with one. He has the Rubicon

Roger speaks for me too. I believe the experience gained by taking steps is
invaluable. IMO the better drivers started small and learned in increments.
I have seen great looking/built Jeeps in the hands of inexperienced drivers
that just thrash the Jeep needlessly.

Question for anyone. Is there a difference in horsepower for speed and
horsepower for torque? Or does horsepower just mean horsepower and it is the
back of the engine that controls the torque.
I ask because some install horsepower mods because they buy a Jeep coming
from a rice rocket and feel the bigger engine should go faster and miss the
speed. Not understanding a Jeep engine was built for low end torque not high
end speed.
I also have talked to some that discard some mods because they loose that
low end torque or the onboard computer readjusts and nullifies the mod.
Just my inexperience showing.
