All,

I found this webpage that does a good job in explaining automotive
polyurethane bushing applications. I thought it was worthwhile posting
since the aftermarket lift kit manufacturers are starting to use more
poly and less rubber in their suspension kits.

Just an FYI. The Phoenix Hash House Harriers (running club) is planning
a race on the Crown King trail from Lake Pleasant to Crown King on
Saturday, March 16. Don't plan any runs on that trail that weekend! It
might be really sloooooow going.

Also, you guys didn't mention that a D35c has a longer drive shaft, about
1.5". I have seen more post on trying to get length on drive shafts than
braking R&P or brakes.

Interesting! I just got a flyer from the Cooley Advertising agency
(they work with Az State Parks) advertising the rock crawling
competition as being sponsored by the ASA4WDC. No mention of the ARCA at
all. What's going on there?

It's a shame to hear that the competition was called off. I think part
of it is is that the extreme 4-wheelers in Az are too independent to
join forces to help keep good PR coming their way. These competitions do
a lot to legitimize the sport.

Don't know if the exhibition thingy Sandee is planning is a good idea. I
for one won't be out there that weekend!

I've heard of a number of spider gears breaking on a D35, and know of
someone who broke a ring/pinion.

However, it's almost always the shafts that go. Even the Super 35's, though
much, much less frequently.

Randy,

I thought about the Ford 9" for the ZJ since later models are set up for
coil suspension (coil perches, LCA bracketry, torque bar mounting) until
Steve told me that those axle models are low-pinion and not good for
SWBs (less than a FS pickup) with a suspension lift. The u-joint angle
would be extreme. The Hi-pinion setup; however, has possibilities.

So, we are going out and love for anyone to join us. My plans. I have none. Meet up with whoever and wing it from there. Hang out and chat, go up the creek, down the creek , into the mountains, around them. I just wan to get into low range and burn gas.

I would like to meet up with whoever at the end of the road going down to the wash. I will be at the end of the trialon top, or in the bottom of the wash, depending on how crodwed it is. I will wait there. Meeting time 7:30

I hope to see some of you guys out there. I will be in my 1988 white Land Cruiser. It will have the huge Hunter Offroad stickers on it.

James, I was recently forced to make this decision myself, whether to
upgrade my existing dana 35c or go with a dana 44. I chose to go with
a new dana 44 because when I did the math it wasn't that much more
expensive than upgrading the dana 35. By the time I added up what it
would cost for the super 35 kit, new gears, install kit and the labor
to set it up properly, I was almost up to the price of brand new dana
44. I figured I would spend the few extra bucks to get the stronger
ring and pinion and other advantages of the 44.

Hello All,

Gary Oglesby is leading an Unspecified trail run on Saturday, February 23, 2002.

When: Saturday, February 23rd, 2002

Start @ 11am.
Where: Meet in Downtown Ajo, Arizona @ the park.

1.5 hours from Phoenix
Rating: None
Length: 4-5 hours
CB Channel: 5

I didn't have any response to this trip last weekend. I'm trying again.

Rating is a "2" then possibly "2.5" hill...

Mostly very large sandy wash. Leading to dirt road ending up @ Marble Canyon. Lots of scenery along the way. Possibly some wildlife.

I have a stock 4 wheel drive Cherokee. This is an easy run.

If you like SAND, you will love this trip!!!

Would like to get a least a couple vehicles.

If people stay the night I would be happy to show a couple other shorter trails in the area on Sunday. You can do this trip in one day also. Lots of open camping room (no designated spots) or you can choose one of the couple hotels in town.

QUESTIONS?? E-MAIL ME @ ITSAJEEPTHING28@AOL.COM

Subject: ?? TracLoc question ??

I am wondering if it is time to replace the factory installed TracLoc in
the old ZJ (130k+ miles on the TracLoc). Here's the symptom:

Drive the Jeep at 55-65mph on the freeway. Exit the freeway. Stop. Make
a slow left or right turn, and the rear axle jerks and clicks (not
excessively, but it gets your attention). After completing the turn it's
fine again.

I can't duplicate the problem on driving on surface streets or on jack
stands. It kind of sounds like the clutches are wearing out. Does this
sound about right? I am not interested in rebuilding it. I have budgeted
for a new LSD or locker this year. I just haven't decided which way to
go yet.

Thanks,
Linda
