When I was doing Raw Deal the Other night with my buddy Just as we were turning that first corner I saw a ranger( like a park Ranger ), I think he was honking and trying to get my attention, I stopped but at that point I heard nothing. Anyway is there something going on with the chance that this land might be off-use. I have never seen a ranger out there before and was just curious.

Hi Stu,
That's the same thought I had... it started first try and ran fine... but it
runs better now and I'll bet you notice it immediately. I didn't notice the
slow degradation in performance and I thought the drop in gas mileage was
due to all my upgrades... it's nice to be back in double digit fuel economy
range.
PS. The number one cylinder plug wire is a bear to remove, but once you get
it off, the plug comes out with a simple swivel adapter.

first engine upgade I did (well that and the K&N at the same time).
I liked the bosch from when I had my Mustang. Great plugs for just
over a buck each! Joes right about the #1 plug wire... it took me
twenty minutes and three chunks of skin off my knuckles before I got
it off!!! that sucku is tight! I used a long screw driver as
leverage, but you have to be care that you are not pulling on just
the wire or you'll yank the wire right off the cap and your really
screwed! If that happens you're looking at pulling a lot of crap off
the Jeep to get to that cap!! -Rob

Hello All,
David Withers is leading an Orvilleþs Loop trail run on Sunday, February 17, 2002.
When: 9:30 at the Texaco in FJ. Pull out by 9:45
Where:
Rating: 3.5+
Length: ?
CB Channel: 4
I have never run this trail, and need directions. Should be great weather this weekend. Also this is a 3.5+ trail, so it should be fun for all jeeps.
Orville's Loop will take you over almost every type of terrain; you will traverse washes, hills, rocks and then do them again. You will view the Gila River Valley, Florence and the East Phoenix Valley from the top. There will be moderate to hard rock climbs and ledges.
It takes some driving experience and a slightly modified vehicle. A rear traction device is required and this trail requires clearance and 31" or larger tires.
Enjoy and remember to TREAD Lightly!

Hello All,
Gary Oglesby is leading an Unspecified trail run on Saturday, February 23, 2002.
When: Saturday, February 23rd, 2002
Start @ 11am.
Where: Meet in Downtown Ajo @ the park.
1.5 hours from Phoenix
Rating: None
Length: 4-5 hours
CB Channel: 5
I didn't have any response to this trip last weekend. I'm trying again.
Rating is a "2" then possibly "2.5" hill...
Mostly very large sandy wash. Leading to dirt road ending up @ Marble Canyon. Lots of scenery along the way. Possibly some wildlife.
I have a stock 4 wheel drive Cherokee. This is an easy run.
If you like SAND, you will love this trip!!!
Would like to get a least a couple vehicles.
If people stay the night I would be happy to show a couple other shorter trails in the area on Sunday. You can do this trip in one day also. Lots of open camping room (no designated spots) or you can choose one of the couple hotels in town.

I emailed Sandy and asked about the cancellation. She said it was partly
due to issues with the BLM regarding the "pygmy owl, parking, etc., etc."
and partly due to a lack of people signing up to participate.
She suspects that too many people thought the competition was going to
be at the ARCA level and that scared them off. The competition was
apparently not going to be at that level but was going to be sancationed
by ARCA and serve as a "preliminary" into the ARCA events for those that
wish to continue on to that level.

Hi Simon
I talked to Oscar at Arizona Drivelines he said the JB Conversion kit has
everything the AA kit has, and is only $299 for the kit by it's self and the
Driveshaft is $200 with a kit savings of $75 bucks....it makes your 231
shorter and your driveshaft longer by about 4 inches with and output shaft
equivalent to the 205 TC.....
He said they also have the 350 kit with a CV driveshaft that we can install
under my son's Jeep (they have sold hundreds of them with no recurring
problem..) I kind of like this for the money, because my son isn't a heavy
duty Rock Crawler....
We just about know the length of the rear driveshaft, because we are going
to do the same lift to it and his friend's Jeep as the one Mark (another
friend) has on his TJ.....
Also someone said "the minimal length for a CV shaft is 15.25"....I asked
Oscar about that, he laughed and showed me one he made for some guys that's
only about 9 inches with 5 inches of working length....go figure....
I like and respect those guys at 4 Wheeler's Supply...Barry has been our
trip leader the last 2 years in a row....I also respect Dave Hickman, Randy
from Driven Auto Parts and a few others like that...they keep saying Arizona
Drivelines are Great....and the price is right.

Subject: SEMA FEDERAL SCRAPPAGE ALERT - New U.S. Senate Bill Would Still
Fund Scrappage Programs Nationwide
Date: Sat, 16 Feb 2002 17:18:38 -0500
A message from the SEMA Government Affairs Team -
As most of you are aware, SEMA and the SEMA Action Network (SAN) have been
actively opposing legislation, Section 803 of U.S. Senate Bill 1766 (S.
1766), that would federally fund state run scrappage programs. At this
time, the bill and section number have been changed to Section 832 of S.
517.
Unfortunately, despite the section and number changes, the message remains
the same: Section 832 of S. 517 STILL seeks to federally fund state run
scrappage programs for vehicles older then 15 years.
We would like to thank all those who have contacted their U.S. Senators in
opposition to scrappage. For those of you who have not done so yet, our
updated alert is attached and posted below.
__________________________________________________ __________________________
URGENT FEDERAL SCRAPPAGE ALERT
U.S. Senate Bill Would Fund Scrappage Programs Nationwide
A bill (S. 517), authored by Senator Tom Daschle (D-SD), has been
introduced in the U.S. Senate containing a provision (Section 832) that
would federally fund voluntary state scrappage programs for vehicles over 15
years old. Owners who turn in vehicles for crushing would receive a
“minimum” payment and a future credit toward purchasing a newer vehicle, all
in a misguided attempt to improve the overall fuel economy of the country’s
vehicle fleet.
Oppose the Use of U.S. Taxpayer Dollars for Scrappage
· Section 832 of S. 517 would federally funded state scrappage programs. It
threatens enthusiasts nationwide with the loss of valuable parts and
parts-cars for repair, restoration, and customization projects.
· Section 832 of S. 517 would give states that don’t currently operate
scrappage programs an extra incentive to create a program due to generous
federal funding.
· Section 832 of S. 517 does not require states to determine if scrapped
vehicles are being replaced by more fuel-efficient vehicles.
· Section 832 of S. 517 ignores the fact that cars turned in for scrappage
often barely run or are rarely driven second or third vehicles that have a
minimal impact on overall fuel economy.
· Section 832 of S. 517 will diminish the availability of affordable
transportation and repair parts to low-income drivers as more and more older
cars are crushed.
· Section 832 of S. 517 does not guarantee that low-income individuals will
be able to afford to purchase new vehicles – let alone more fuel efficient
vehicles – with the money provided by scrappage programs.
Contact Your U.S. Senators to Oppose Section 832 of S. 517. Protect
American vehicle enthusiasts and low-income drivers. To find out who your
U.S. Senators are, call the SEMA Washington, D.C. office at 202-783-6007 or

After further checking on the harbor freight web site the total cost of the tool to buy online is $42.95 sounds like it is about the same as buying it here at the store. The shipping and handling eat up the ten dollar price difference.

Hi Stu,
That's the same thought I had... it started first try and ran fine... but it
runs better now and I'll bet you notice it immediately.

U.S. Senate Bill Would Fund Scrappage Programs Nationwide

FYI
After further checking on the harbor freight web site the total cost of the tool to buy online is $42.95 sounds like it is about the same as buying it here at the store. The shipping and handling eat up the ten dollar price difference.
