I've got a 83 CJ5 that needs a OEM 20 gallon fuel tank. Anyone got one lying around or know where to get one?

Call Simon at 4Wheelers first. He usually has everything in stock :)
There are various places online to get aftermarket steel/poly tanks too.

I looked at aftermarket. They seem to almost fit. Plus I would need a different sending unit. When I pulled my tank out to patch it it I sprang for a new sending unit. My patch lasted about 2 weeks. So I would like to stick with the factory 20 gal tank if I can. But you know how that goes. I might be wantin' in one hand and you know what in the other.

I have the tank out of my cj7 in my gargage. Don't know if it will work for you, but you are welcome to it. Not sure if it's 15 or 20, but I think 20. Needs the oring around the sender as this is where mine was leaking.

AMC 4x4 salvage would probably have one. I dont have the number on hand, but im sure someone here does
FWIW ... I went thru the pain of searching for a good 20 gal OEM replacement back a few months ago for my CJ-7. No luck. Anywhere. I ended up going with a TrailQuest 23 gal tank. In retrospect, I'm glad I didn't find another plastic tank - because now I've got a steel tank that's strong enough I can jack the vehicle up by putting the jack on the tank. It uses a stock sending unit, has an integral 3/8" thick skid, and has some extra capacity to boot.
I feel for ya - it was no fun looking high and low for an OEM-type replacement.
I gave up looking for a tank for my CJ 5, JB weld came to the rescue.... JB weld and duct tape and baling wire.... wonderful inventions.

I've got mine, still in the frame rails, sitting on the side of the shop (DesertFab). I have little use for it. Prolly has some nice old fuel in it, too (it has about 10 gallons when I tore it down last year).
Call the shop and they'll get you a price of some sort. or something. Tell 'em that it's the tank in Glenn's frame.
By the way... perf4ect shape, sending unit only a couple years old and properly adjusted (bent to read right).
