I always wanted to know what the diffence is between wheel bearing grease labeled "disc Brakes" and wheel bearing grease labeled "drum Brakes" ...

Anyone know..................... AND If you did a disc brake conversion on a rear axle using the hub from a drum brake ... what grease is appropriate ???

Kinda liek the chicken or the egg to me....

The grease used in disc brake set ups is designed to remain in the bearings at higher temperatures. This is because under heavy or repeated braking, disc brakes dissipate heat more quickly into the hub/bearing assembly, causing the hubs and bearings to heat up quicker. (This quicker heat transfer/dissipation is also why discs don't fade as quickly...:p )

If you use std. wheel bearing grease, it will liquify quicker (which is NOT a problem), however, it may get warm enough to cook/boil out of the cavity, or "coke up", in heavy use situations... But in a pinch, ANY lubricant is better than none...;)

You should've ordered some Green Grease...it's much better for offroad IMO.
