I have a few action shots and still shots of these from this past weekend at WE ROCK and will post up on Wednesday when I get back into town.
I think they are hot and with the addition of the add on removable flare, they are cool for those people that need to run them (or want to). I'm not a big fan of how they look with the flare but that's just me.
They replace the stock fenders completely.
Still attach to the grill.. what happens when you flop and the fan goes through the rad ??? ouch!!!

I have flopped mine on my PSC Tubes and nada, not to say you cannot fold your grill like a taco.
It needs to be attached somewhere. If you attach it to the front bumper assembly, then if you want to remove the front bumper [which I do often] then it becomes a hassle.
All the options of attachment have their +/-...

If you look at the picture of my flop, I dug the passenger side fender in very good! No tweaking, only scratched it. It took all the weight of my jeep on it. There wasn't any bending of my front bumper either. Mike must have hit really hard on his.

I like the idea but they look pretty goofy. Personally I'd go for a Rock Crawler Hood and some custom inner fenders. Then maybe some tube that follows the contour of the hood line.

I have seen it happen personally with the PSCs, just ask D-Dub!

He still doesn't have it fixed all the way yet. I don't think he has driven it since he did an electric fan convertion after it happened. work with him that's how I know.

I slammed down pretty hard on solid rock without tube fenders and it crushed into the grill, which tweaked the radiator and passenger side fender. I think if you hit something hard enough, especially solid rock, it's going to bend whether you have tube fenders or not.
However, I think in my case with the amount of force I had slamming down on to that rock from an almost vertical position, I would have sustained even more damage to the radiator if I had just the tube fenders without any frame support.
The stock fender crumpled and absorbed some of the shock. A tube fender without frame support would have remained in tact and in my situation would have kept going through and damaging the radiator to the extent where I would not have been able to drive out like I did.

So you feel that the a whole new heavy duty fender itself, replacing the stock sheet metal will not hold up better in a side flop?
These fender stick so close to the hood that it would be difficult to see it pushing the grill into the radiator. I need to upload the pics I took this weekend to show it better but that won't happen till Wednesday.
I still like the different "ugly" look these have. :D

I beleive they will provide protection in mild flops but in a case like mine I really think it would do more damage. That's just my opinion from looking at the damage I sustained and adding the, "If I had tube fenders" in the same scenario. In no way am I an expert on this. It's just an opinion based on my recent experience.

I beleive the fact that they will hold up is why they will crush into the grill and radiator in certain circumstances.

I like the look of these too. They are a bit different than what you see on so many jeeps right now. When she posts up pics of the jeep at WE-ROCK, it may give a better prospective on looks.
As far as the radiator issue, well, flopping that hard is gonna bust something.
It's a part of wheeling. Unless I start to drive a tank out here, I'm prepared to go through a grill or radiator, or something. They seem to add adequate protection for the most part. I'll watch them though some comps and see how they hold up on some of Lil' Rich's gnarly courses.

I think you should go with a tank :D
Perhaps the M-1A1 Abrams but if you are picky then here is a list to choose from

I think your right Mike. I plan on running a tube from my TBT bumper to where the fenders go to the radiator shell for support.

He's talking about the fenders we do over at DesertFab.
I agree, they definitely look agressive and provide some extra clearance. I like the look, personally.
The protection offered by these os almost moot... you have a stronger fender that won't crumple lik it's supposed to. That energy has to go somewhere. The weakest metal that the fender attaches to is the grille. The cowl is the strongest part of the Jeep body and will not bend as easily as the grille can. Simple physics.
This is just a sampling, and is the old style. notice the tie-in to a rad hoop that adds even more protection in a turtle situation as the hood cannot crush the rad, either.

They're not fenders as much as they are inner fenders LOL.
I still sorta like 'em.
I'd run a tube from that stub tube (which needs capped IMHO) to the rad hoop and be good with that.

The caps are open so you can add their optional flares to it. I'd cap them with a removable cap though, more for use of small storage like pins, valve stems, small items that can fit in there.

Don't know if you can call that fenders also. They look like a POS to me. But that me. I think if your going to make some thing it should look good and work great. If i made that a my shop i would be slaped up side the head and told not to drink on the job.
