Anyone have any experience/thoughts on these? Seems like a pretty easy upgrade, just wondering how well they work.

Same principle as a Lock Right which has been around for years, supposedly they are just a little bit more refined in the disengagement (less noise and jerking) and made of a slightly harder material... For the price of $249.00 shipped you can't go wrong if you are looking for an Auto locker IMO... Although this type of locker is more at home in a rear diff unless you have hubs in the front to disengage (like my 1981 CJ7 :D )

i installed an aussie locker in my front diff over one year ago and it has been great. not too noisy and works just fine in a front diff since it only engages when in 4wd. if your considering putting in a locker in the rear go with an air or e-locker

What about gear lash adjustments? Is it true you don't have to worry about it if you pull only the ring and carrier (leaving the pinion in place)?

as long as any shims that come out with the carrier go back to the same spot
the lock rite has a warranty fro only 35" tires, the aussie is unlimited warranty for tire size.

Will,
How does your Aussie locker behave in the front on hard pack or rocks in low range? Does it greatly hamper steering?

it chirps on hard rock like in Sedona...but I heard alot of other rigs doing it too...its not bad at all...I have em front and rear...
In the front you shouldnt notice it at all onroad...

The only thing you would notice onroad for hubless vehicles is that the front driveshaft would turn all the time (2wd or 4wd)....

I have a Powertrax No-slip, which is similar, F/R. It does hinder turning in the front somewhat, but is WELL worth it in the advantage it gives in traction. And yes, it pops LOUD, and makes the Jeep want to shift left and right when applying and letting off the gas on the road.

Well YJ's with the dreaded axle disconnect turned the front axles but since one axle is disconnected the spider gears get a workout in an open front diff...
TJ's apparently turn the front driveshaft, poor engineering IMO but hey ask DR. Z .... :D

My front DS spun in 2wd before and after my front locker.

If you do not have an axle disconnect system, it will....
My front driveshaft doesn't turn on my CJ (until I lock the hubs) which is both good and bad. Used to be (and if you read my posts you see I go back to the old days often) you needed to lock your hubs once a month if you did not use 4wd to keep things lubricated in the front. In high humidity areas I have heard of front axles actually rusting solid from a lack of use. Old CJ hubs were plastic and when you went to lock them in they would blow out with a rusted up front end...
I guess to save money and some moving parts the trend was to go away from locking hub front ends. Maybe a blessing in disguise... But I just think of all the extra wear and tear of turning the front end parts even though they are not having engine power applied to them... From my engineering background this is just a waste...
The front axles turn all the time on my Subaru  !!!

I rebuilt a Dana 44 today and installed an Aussie locker for a friends XJ and I was surprised at how loud the Aussie was clickin' through turns. I am curious as to whether the Aussie will quiet down after it wears in a bit?? The install was straight forward and operated as expected.

My Lock Rights front and rear do the same. It's a little harder to steer in tight situations in 4lo, espically on rock like Sedona. No problems at all on the highway since I put the one in front. Seems to ballance the back one out when letting off the gas.
Brad does some hard core stuff and seems to like his. I just do trail riding and really like my lock rights.

Mine still clicks. They got a bit softer but i would imagine too soft would be a bad thing as that would mean the edges are wearing down and rounding off. The clicks dont go away as much as you just get used to them and dont pay any attention.
