Anyone have a precision driveline cv drive shaft? If so, does it have a grease zirk for the center ball joint? I looked all over mine and don't see one. If it does not have one, do I have to disassembly the shaft to lube it?

Mine actually has two, but they're needle fittings, not regular zerks. You need to remove the DS to get to them. Check out Stu Olsen's page, he has a great write-up on exactly how to do it, including the NAPA part number for the needle adapter for your grease gun.

Ya, I have looked at Stu's write up. I think mine just does not have one. Thanks

I had a similar experience with precision...
I bought a front and a rear driveshafts from them. One shaft had the needle zerk for the center ball and one did not?!?!?!
I am not sure why it did not, but this seemed kinda screwy.

I don't think you'd need the CV unless you have an SYE. In any case, the double cardan is pretty noticeable, and if there's no grease fitting (one of mine is hidden pretty well inside the carrier) just flex the joint enough to get a small gap in the ball, then use the needle fitting to pump it full of grease.

as I noted in other thread, many of the new CV's are NONSERVICABLE
sticking needle in at ball WILL NOT get grease where you need it... you would need to disassemble (needle bearing is "sealed" so nothing gets in/out)
as far as needle zerks, I find it is easiest to insure properly greased by removing flush zerk, install standard zerk, lube, then replace flush/needle zerk

I dunno, works fine for me... As far as changing out the zerk, I guess you could do that - but by the same token, if you're pumping grease in with the needle fitting and it's not splooging all over the place at the fitting it's a safe bet the grease is going where it's supposed to and it's getting "properly greased"...

the clearance is so tight on the inner trunion that no ammount of "spooging" will get grease to the inner needle bearings (physically impossible). If there is no zerk (many are "non serviceable"), the only way to get grease in is disassembly.

Precision driveline overhauled mine. Like the previous members stated it's for a needle fitting. it's flat so sometimes you have to remove some dirt to see it. You want to remove the dirt anyhow to keep from forcing it through with the new grease. I have to remove the shaft from the transmission side to flex the joint enough to get at it.
It's important. With a lift that center ball gets a workout.
