You know what... That price doesn't do a thing for the rear end... What's the price for that?

You know what... That price doesn't do a thing for the rear end... What's the price for that? You get new flares for the rear that mount higher. Throwing the old flares away and running without them will achieve the same goal but you wallet wont be empty.

It wouldnt look nearly as good...:D

That said.....they are waaaay too much $$$ However...

I guess if you start with them instead of a lift...it works out for what you paid to lift it to fit the larger tires.. ??

So is this the mild build you are doing in Feb Jason...?

I like them, think they look good, and are well built/engineered, but just cannot see that kind of money for them.

But your money, your Jeep and glad for you.

I like them and think it will look sweet.

I would also never take a sawzall to my jeep body, but I will be doing the TNT fenders sometime in the future for a significant cost savings and still be able to sell all of my stock parts.

But I would probably smash them... When you get yours Jason, can I use them as a template to build by own flat fenders?

I still like these http://www.tntcustoms.com/webv5/default2.asp
better. You might need a 4.5" lift to run 37"s instead of a 3" lift. But they will take a lot more abuse. And with an Unlimited more lift is needed for breakover & departure angle IMO.

The phantom fenders?

The phantom fenders?

Yes, For my build I would rather have the Phantom fenders, especially at a savings of $1570. I realize there not for everyone. Some may like the look of the factory fenders with flares & the coverage they give for the tires.
But I like the buggy look with no flares & less sheetmetal to rub on the rocks.
I'm waiting on shipment of mine.

wow, price is kinda steep. id cut mine first. but there are the few out there that will spend the money for the factory look. i look at it like this, i dont like hydraulics, or those loud stupid exhausts, but the kids keep my pockets fat that buy them..

Whoa! That's just crazy talk right there. This was directed to the ones who may be reluctant to cut sheet metal but will still go off road and risk body damage.

Spending money on useless things that serve no purpose and will eventually be smashed to crap is retarded.

Eventually, it will all go in the scrap steel bin.

Not "everyone" on this board is out to scrape up EVERY millimeter of their Jeep...

Im not sure why the facination of a "beat to crap" Jeep is so rampant...and if you want a "nice" Jeep you get crap for it...not everyone wheels at the level some folks do here...and may not ever be there...no one gets crap for cuttin stuff off around here..ehy so much crap for bolting something on.

I still have to cart my kids to school everyday and have it get me to work...but I still like wheelin...from 4's down to dirt roads...and love every minute of it....

who is anyone on here to tell a person what they can and cannot do to THEIR rig...lets all remember.....its THEIRS.! If someone is building a rig for 3.5 trails...then leave em to it...not everyone wants to peel off sheet metal on Anaconda or the can opener on Intimidator.

Not blasting anyone here...Ive been meaning to say it for awhile. Someday I may have a buggy that doesnt matter if I roll, scrape, dent, tear, flop, ding, scratch, maim, or even worst let Shnipe drive...:D Lets face it...we are all Jeep Enthusiasts...wether we have a 2 in BB...or a rock buggy.

Thanks Brad, I feel the same way. Paid for or not, I'm wheeling at the level I feel comfortable at. Even I feel that these new fenders are steep, but have no problem with the scratches on my PSC tubes.

Having a nice looking Jeep is certainly understandable. But spending this kind of money on cosmetics is hard to grasp for many. Sure, for the AEV fenders you gain more than cosmetics, but to me, it seems that if you need that high clearance than you're going to be doing something that could scratch them up pretty good. In all fairness, I feel the same for the measly $500 PSC fenders too, and I have them.

When I cut my front fenders for the PSC fender template, I really wanted to stop there. I think they look the best that way, less chance of further damage and would save me $500+(or paid for alloy axles, TT, Tera 4:1, winch, etc). Unfortunately, I need to get my vehicle pretty to instill some sort of confidence with clients. Maybe some day I'll get over the buyer's remorse for spending money on fenders.

Although, the rear crusher corners have served their purpose very well, even got a chance to try to rip off a flare last weekend, but it stayed put. ;)

High clearence is nice to have, just because I want lower COG doesn't mean I don't want to scratch up the paint a little. I currently have 2 rear quarter panel scratches with a dent..So I understand that I need armor. I have yet to damage a front fender and have decided that my max rating is a 4.0. I'm not out to impress with a damaged jeep that's ready for the bone yard. I drive mine daily 40 miles and don't want a trailer queen. To each as their own......

With the right armor you can lower the possibility of getting damaged sheet metal. I just picked up my Jeep from Desert Fab, where they welded a slider bar to my crusher corners & clearanced the wheelwell some.

That looks great JD! Are you planning on painting them the same color as your rig or are you going to go with rattle can black? I've been thinking of doing the same and following the line on the TXT crapper bars I have now.

Thanks Mike. Yeah I think Todd did a good job, just what I was looking for. I'm going to powdercoat them & my fenders the same silver vein as my old corners & my rock sliders.

I remember when my Jeep was stock or close to it and I was still making payments on it. I wheeled it mildly as it was some what of a DD and fun sport vehicle.
I did not start dumping allot of cash into it until I had paid it off and decided it was to become an off road only vehicle.

I do not go out and smash things on purpose. Actually, I don't smash much at all and my Jeep is in fine shape. I do, however know what will usually get smashed and what to get rid of that will just gets in the way.

My point was, before you spend this kind of money on fenders and a hood, ask yourself if you plan on running more and more challenging trails. My guess is, yes you will and you will kick yourself for throwing away money on a useless mod.

Well, it did not take long for my position on this to have a poster child. This happened on a moderate trail, like the ones that get posted here regularly.

If you had just spent $2000+ on fenders, a hood, paint & installation and this happens, are you going to feel like it has worth the money?

Yay! I'm a poster child!:D I always wanted to be a poster child.:)

I'm not knocking the AEV fenders, I think they are a great idea, but if I would've spent $2000+ on those fenders prior to my flop, I would've really been crying.

For that amount of money I'd get DF's extreme tube fenders and a roll cage plus have money left over.

Like many have said Flops are very expensive even with tube fenders and the purpose of the AEV's are to have LOW COG..Flops would be less likely;)
