I was in the market for an 06' LJ Rubicon last week. With the military discount and all the rebates and what not I managed to get the dealer down to $25,611 + TTL & Fees. That worked out to about 28.5K OTD.

So this is a very good deal.

It is a full $500 cheaper than I managed from a neighboring dealer just last weekend, even with my $500 "military" discount.

I wish you guys would have had a color I was interested in!

We did about 6 months ago!!!!! We have white and yellow and we do accept the military so your discount would have been $1000 less. What did you end up getting?????

Jason.

I knew when I made the deal that it was not a 'bottom dollar deal.' There were several factors that went into the decision. I had searched every single dealer in AZ and NM for a suitable LJ Rubi and only found a half a dozen. I contacted all the dealers with one and only about half of those, 3 dealers, had any idea what customer service was. So I was dealing with the three of them exclusively. One dealer understood my situation and was willing to work with me to get it done.

(Situation: I have alway wanted an LJ Rubi. I wanted a new one that I could do all the work on, make all the mistakes on, and be intimately familiar with. I have never had a new vehicle and knew 2 years ago an LJ Rubi was going to be my first. Well the problem was that new ones are drying up and I am out of the country for a while. I have woken up out of the country, in some **** hole third world country, literately 80-85% of my mornings starting with waking up in Egypt 12 Sept 2001. I am currently in Baghdad and needed someone who was willing to help me make this deal knowing this. It is not impossible to do but is harder for the dealer and I. Having purchased two houses and now three vehicles from SWA I knew it was possible.)

So in the end I found a retired Army NCO who was the internet manager at one of the dealerships. He hit the very top of the price range I had in my mind without haggling. He was willing to help me make the deal knowing my circumstance. I even told him I understood that there was still money on the table. I told him to take his wife to dinner with the extra he might make. I basically made a sacrifice in $$$$ to get the customer service I needed. I have been forced to do this many times with many things in these last 6 years while I was traveling with the government.

In the end I would up with an LJ Rubi in my favorite color "Jeep Green / Khaki." I got the deal I needed to sleep good at night and customer service that allows me to know that when my girl picks up the Heep this weekend everything will be taken care of.

I have spent the last couple years reading and studying thousands of pages in numerous forums figuring out how I wanted to build this guy. I have spent the last several days putting the final touches on that plan so I can get all my thoughts in order prior to calling Desert Fab about the build. I will spend the rest of this deployment figuring out how I am going to get the 14-15K I am going to need to build this guy!

In the end the post was supposed to let everyone know they are getting a heck of a deal on this LJ Rubi you have for sale. There are not a lot of these guys left and while I am not going to say they will be a collectors item they are the perfect compromise of form vs functionality for me.
