I needed to replace my rear main seal on my 04 Rubi. I called up Travis at Airpark and he pulled the parts I needed and gave me the AZVJC price with no issues.

During my install I trashed half of the seal and had to get a new one. I live out in Queen Creek, so Airpark was a bit too far of a drive to make while in the middle of a repair. I headed up to Superstition Springs Jeep and got screwed by their parts department.

At Airpark the list price is $17.20, and they sold it to me for $12.90. Superstion Springs sold the part to me for $20.81. Over $3 more than the list price and no where near Airparks AZVJC price. I talked the Les at the parts counter and told him the price I paid the day before and he said there was nothing he could do. I wanted to leave the part there and walk out, but I was in a bind so I spent the extra money to complete the job.

See this as a word of warning to everyone else. It looks like Superstiton Springs marks up their prices on parts.

Airpark Jeep came through on parts. Thanks Travis and Airpark. :D

yeah but how much did you save in gas?

Well I was driving my truck which gets 26.5 mpg. Airpark is 51.5 miles and Superstition Springs is 22 miles. Well at $2.25 a gallon I saved just over $5 and 40 minutes of driving round trip. I paid $8 more so maybe I came out ahead. :)

What really bothers me is that they charged me higher than list price.

What truck were you driving that gets 26.5MPG?

1995 Nissian pickup. 2wd 4-banger and no thrills. I was pretty shocked when I started tracking the gas milage.

Yep, that can do it. About 5 years or so I was commuting up to Bell/I-17 from Gilbert. I was tired of blowing through gas and putting tons of miles on my financed vehicle so I bought a '91 Nissan 4cyl just to commute. That's about the exact mileage I got... I was a bit closer to 28 though... but the older truck was probably a bit lighter than the new ones. It was a great truck, super reliable and had super cold A/C. I had it until a couple years ago when I got the Jeep and needed to get it out of my garage. I ended up giving it to my parents for misc trips to the dump, hauling junk, etc. They drive it probably a couple times a week. I got it at 90k miles, had over 200k miles on it when I gave it to them, and only put a starter and battery in it in the duration I had it. :)

On edit:
Oh, I did put a timing chain in it before I gave it to them but I did this only because I figured it was time and didn't want them to have problems.

I haven't done much to my truck. Got it in high school with only 35 miles and I've put on nearly all of the 160K it has. I've done a clutch, lower ball joints, and the starter is coming soon. My driving caused the clutch and ball joints to go bad. Its been a great truck. Got much better when I finally installed A/C in it last summer. That dropped the milage, but worth the price. :) It was only 10K in 1995. What a sweet deal it turned out to be. Almost 2 times better milage than the Rubi.
